gotcha. according to weather.us, only the hrrr has it doing some heavy rain here. how accurate is that model?

I am no OT weather guru, but I will parrot what I heard Rob Perillo explain about the HRRR model on rain accumulation. It does a good job predicting rainfall amounts, but it’s a crapshoot where the heavy rains will actually occur.

It's great but like any of these models has a hard time getting the exact locations. Last night it had some big rain numbers bouncing around the BR area/northshore, so I figured someone would get a lot but wasn't sure where.

My thought is most of the larger rain totals stay west of BR, and there's potential for a lot of rain in western LA.

Duke, do you know much about how rivers like the Red and Ouachita drain into LA and how that affects CenLA or even BR area water? It's pouring up here and it all has to fo somewhere. The rivers above and Sabine mostly.

It’ll be fine. Eventually. Thank you for asking. So many people have been so nice.

Wanted new floors anyway, just not like this

I am now panicking and checking this thread whenever I get a chance. Hoping not to take water again tomorrow.

I don't know the particulars all that well. I bet The Boat does though.

That actually sounds fun though, except the work part.

None of those impact the Mississippi River because the Red River and Ouachita/Black River don’t flow into the Mississippi. The Red River is going up with this rain but it mostly looks like a big Sabine River problem.

Fun fact: the traditional name is "Red River." Not "The Red River" and never, ever "The Red."

Good radar lesson here. Notice how quickly it goes from no rain to oranges and reds. That's going to correlate with strong winds.

the traditional name
Well things change. “The” is what I hear, mostly. Besides, “Traditional” is peer pressure from dead people and who needs that.

I’m in Lake Charles and I can confirm the area is getting fricked pretty hard right now

We’re pretty used to it. Common occurrence around here.

The south end, where the line bends due north...that bend is looking suspect for a tornado or at least a mesocyclone with enhanced rainfall rates.

looks like this band will make it this far. guess yesterday was a bigger blessing that we didn’t get the rain we were supposed to. i keep trying to remind myself the rivers can handle 3-4 inches of rain.

It’s pouring like crazy in Lacassine. This is going to be a long morning.

ETA: it took about 30 minutes for the worst part to roll though. Get ready Lafayette and BR.
