Ghosts don't exist. Stop deluding yourselves.

We’re all given a lifetime of choices. If you don’t choose well you have to stay here or worse.
Maybe you get a chance to find yourself before you die if you never really did.
I believe in souls, and I believe that we are given the power of choice. I don’t really dig in much deeper than that.

My aunt gave my sister my grandmother's diaries from the 50's a few years ago. One entry from around 56-57 reads Ruth, Rose, and I saw a ghost in the yard this afternoon. I had always heard about it. Asked my cousin a while back about it whose mother was Rose. They were sitting on the porch and a woman dressed in white floated across the yard right in front of them. I got a few more but it's late.

My point was, in the dead of night, if a mouse can sound like a raccoon, maybe, with a little power of suggestion, a raccoon can sound like a human?
Don't underestimate the power of suggestion.
One night, I was home alone in our rural home, 10 years old I guess. The front screen door sounded like someone was grabbing the handle and trying to get in. I kept hearing it, and I was getting pretty freaked out. It went on for maybe 15 minutes, and I figured, if someone was trying to break in, they would have by now.
So I got up the courage to go to the door. There's my Border Collie, jumping up at the door for me to let him in (which I never remember him doing like that before). But in my mind, someone was twisting that handle.

Why don't they ?
Doubt is not the opposite of faith; it is one element of faith.

You don't sound very skeptical to me. Were you there with your Mom? Recording it, so you could analyze it laterquote:
I wasn’t there, but my step dad was. ... According to my step dad there was no give in my mom. She also mentioned a nickname he had for me. No idea how she would have gotten that one. …
But that's why you need a recording. If those in attendance picked up on the tricks, they wouldn't be amazed and it wouldn't be a story, they'd just laugh at it and call it BS.
Some of these 'mediums' are really good at the 'cold reading' shtick. If they weren't good, everyone would realize it was a trick. But when you watch the videos of people who were fooled, you see they actually did give up the info, or agreed to something vague, and then associated it with something specific.
Also, if Mom was wanting to hear from your grandad, then power of suggestion comes into play.

I've shared this story on here before. Years ago some friends of mine and I were staying at a cabin in Arkansas. .... As I was leaving the cabin to head back to the fire pit area I heard a little girl giggle right by me, clear as day. There was nobody there at all. I was freaked out. We tried to come up with a rational explanation for all of that but really couldn't. As crazy as it sounds I really think the girl was probably a ghost.
Hmmm, a bunch of guys out at a cabin, and you're gonna tell me that no alcohol was involved?

There's your rational explanation! Google "Occams Razor" for more. :)

Years and years ago, seen something I still can't explain. It was way back in 1989 and my then girlfriend and I were driving around looking for a place to park or just driving around out of boredom. We turned down onto an graveled road which led through some farms and eventually on to a state highway. As we are driving down a hill, gf says she sees something or someone walking out of the woods. As we get within maybe 50 yards we see a late middle aged woman, wearing clothing that looked more typical of the 1930's or 40's. We pretty much panic drive off, and at that time did not realize the gravel road led to a highway, so we had to turn around, maybe 2 miles up.
When we got back. Nothing. Just nothing but the distant lights of our town and heat lightning far away. A couple of years back I was in town and decided to drive that same route. Of course, 30 plus years later and it's developed with subdivisions. Farms were sold off and turned into yet another bedroom community for Louisville. I preferred the dark, spooky graveled road that captured my imagination years ago.

Well, Racoons arent native to Alaska so I feel fairly confident in stating that it wasnt a racoon.

What if time isn’t necessarily linear, but we’re just witness unplanned jumps through some sort of subconscious act?
Granted, this theory doesn’t explain why we only tend to witness things from the somewhat immediate past (rarely over 100 years ago), and not from the future.
Also, why are ghosts binding the specific spaces and subject to the laws of gravity (in that they rotate relative to the earth)?
——————-
Anywho, I’ll chalk this up to the sleep paralysis demon, but I used to live in a condo complex in Atlanta that was an old assembly plant. I was on a big kick of the band Ghost, especially the song “Year Zero” in which the chorus is just
Belial, Behemoth, Beelzebub
Asmodeus, Satanas, Lucifer
And
Hail Satan, Archangelo
Hail Satan, welcome year zero
Having never experienced sleep paralysis, I woke up in middle of the night around 3a one night with the side of my head on the pillow and a witch or female demon type thing pressing its face into mine and saying my name over and over in a raspy voice. I was stuck in place for what felt like 15 minutes (so prob sleep paralysis) until I blacked out. I woke up later as if nothing happened. No marks or anything, but I VIVIDLY remembered it, which is rare for any dreams.
Anyway, I took a step back from Ghost for a spell after that.

Both times one of her parents spoke to her through this lady. Im probably the most skeptical person on planet earth, but some of the things this lady was saying…. There’s no possible way she would have known these things. No amount of internet sleuthing could have given her some of the info she had.

About a year ago the SO and I are getting ready for bed. I just laid down and she walks out of the bathroom into our bedroom and within 10 seconds the toilet closet door closed by itself and then the bedroom lights flickered for about 10 seconds. Those two can be explainable by maybe the AC pulling the door closed and a power issue messing with the lights. But then after about 2-3 minutes we hear several cops cars fly by the house. So we look outside and they stopped at a house a block away from us on the same street. Come to find out there was a domestic situation and a dude shot his wife then shot himself in the driveway. Dude died on scene.
So that got us wondering if there was a pulse of malicious energy that oddly caused the 2 incidents in our house at the exact same time the dude killed himself.

Saw some shite like this back in August of ‘99 on Highland Rd at Barringer Foreman. I was with some bandmates coming back from a show in New Orleans. It must have been around 4a when we crossed those train tracks and saw a woman walking down the middle of the road near where the Racetrac is now located. We slowed down to avoid hitting her and it felt like time stopped. She had dead eyes and was hobbling. It seemed like she was glowing and her clothes were tattered. Not being good Samaritans, we kept going but called the cops to let them know someone was in middle of the road and was going to get killed if they didn’t get her ASAP.
We still talk about this. Maybe it was a drunk or something, but we all felt like time slowed down like we were playing Max Payne.

I have mentioned this several times to bunches of people and it is pretty common. When I was a kid, up to about 8 or so, there was a hand and an arm that would come out of the couch cushions or between the headboard and the mattress. I vividly remember that dam hand...it scared the shite out of me. Apparently this is a pretty common occurrence, lots of people remember something similar when they were kids.
I slept on the couch for about a year when I was 6 and our kitchen and living room would be called an open floorplan...back then it was simply a single wide mobile home. About 4 nights a week the damned kitchen cabinets would open and close on their own all night long. Also had one of those 12 month calendars on the wall of the kitchen, the ones with a stick at the top and a piece of string that you hung it from. Made out of cloth about like bed linens with some kind of print on it and the 12 months of the year...they were ubiquitous in the 70s, everybody had one. That damned calendar would also start flying 90 degrees to the wall about 5-6 times a night. I would check it several times to see if the furnace was doing it....it was not. I'd be about half asleep and something would catch my attention and I would look and that dam calendar would be flapping like a curtain with the window open. It would do it for several minutes (it seemed like) and as soon as I moved it would drop like normal and behave. That year is probably why I am an insomniac to this day LOL....

This is a weird story, but I remember it like it happened yesterday.
I was having a dream where I was in a house on a beach. The clouds were dark gray and sea had high choppy waves. Everyone on the peach was panicking. I step outside and this half woman half raven picks me up with its steel talons. She had pale skin and long dark wavy hair . She carries me away as I start struggling. We both fall to the ground. I look next to me and there is a sword. I pick it up, walk over to her, and stab her with the sword, killing her. I immediately wakes up and am scared shitless. It feels like there is another person it he room besides me and my wife. I say, 'In the name of Jesus Christ, I command you to leave.' Clear as day, I hear a man say, 'Why?'. So I start listing all the reasons I believe in God. I feel back asleep and that was the end of it.

Not necessarily the question but have had two experiences of someone close to me having a premonition about 2-3 months before they came true. One of them involved a lot of details that creeped me out later when they actually materialized.

My Sister, brother and law and their 6 month old daughter moved from Birmingham back to Atlanta in 1990 and stayed with us for about 4 months. About a month in my BIL got hurt at work, wrenched his back out of whack and went to the Dr. They found out he had bone cancer in his spine. The Sunday before this he and I were racing our riding lawnmowers in the yard and cooking out. He got hurt Monday morning, was diagnosed sometime Tuesday, went into a coma about Friday and died the following Monday.
I was at Emroy University Hospital downtown with him Friday night - stayed the night so my sister could get some rest. About 2 AM a nun came into the room and was standing over him. Full habit. Emory is not a catholic hospital and he was not catholic. I asked who she was and she replied "Sister Mary, just checking up on Lee". She turned to leave and glided out the door like she was on roller skates. Nary a leg moved...just slid flat footed out the door upright and silently. I got up and followed her because it was very weird. She glided down the hallway, dead center of it, and when she reached the turn to the elevators she glided midway into the intersecting hall and did a 90 degree spin to the left...did not cut the corner, nothing like someone walking would have done. She glided up to an open elevator and did the same thing....did not enter it an angle, glided to the mid point of the door, spun 90 degrees to the right and glided right into the elevator. The door slid shut before I could get to it.
I started back to his room and ran into a nurse....I asked her if she had seen the nun and she said "you mean Sister Mary?". I said yes and she said, "oh yeah, we see her all the time". I asked her where she came from, meaning which church, because again Emory is not a Catholic hospital.. She said "No one knows". I was of course curious about this....I asked "what do you mean no one knows"? She said "She is here all the time, day and night, and no one knows where she comes from". She then asked "did you notice how she walks?" To witch I replied "she wasn't walking, she was gliding". The nurse said "exactly...she never moves, just glides up and down the halls visiting people at night". I of course asked "Y'all allow that" to which she responding "the gliding or the visiting? Either way, there is nothing we can do about it, she comes into ICU, into the psyche ward, visits people all over the hospital and no one sees her coming in or leaving". I thought she was kind of pulling my leg. Another nurse came in around 6 am and said "I understand Sister Mary came by last night". At that point I am pretty mad with them....I say "y'all ought not to pick on people when they are here with a dying family member". She said "Im not picking on you, Sister Mary comes by here all the time and no one knows where she comes from or where she goes.....she is a ghost". I am fully pissed now and tell her so...she apologizes and leaves.
That evening my wife and are are sitting on a couch in the waiting room and here comes Sister Mary, gliding down the hall. I call out her name when she is 10 feet away and she doesn't even look my way....just keeps on gliding past. I ask my wife if she saw it and she said yes...we get up and sure as hell Sister Mary enters and elevator and is gone. We go to my BILs room and I mention it to my Father. He said "Y'all saw that spooky bitch? I saw her the other night and it scared the piss out of me". As it turned out my other sister and her husband had seen Sister Mary also. They too had noticed she wasn't walking but gliding down the hallways. I mentioned this to several nurses and all of them had seen it....it was well known that people experienced this regularly. No one seemed overly concerned, it did not seem evil or criminal but instead simply a nun visiting sick people at the hospital.
Any way he died that Monday and we had his funeral that Wednesday. After the funeral my wife had to work and my sister and niece were staying at our grandmothers house. I was alone in the house. I started hearing something in the bedroom they had been staying in. I went into investigate...could not find anything. I looked under the bed, in the closet, nothing. Kept hearing it. My wife came home around 10 PM and we were watching TV and she said "what's that noise?". I knew what noise she meant and said "I have no idea but its coming from the guest room and there is nothing in there". She finally got up to look and sure as shite when she looks under the bed a black cat comes charging out at her. She screams bloody murder and when I head that way the cat runs past me into the dining room and starts leaping against the glass door about 5 feet high and making cat like screams frantically trying to get out of the house. I sling the door open and that fricker takes off into the night. We checked the house, no doors open, no windows, nothing. Had never seen that cat before, never seen it since. My wife, to this day, claims I put that cat under the bed but I did not....I have no idea where the fricker came from but he likened to have scared both of us to death.

When I was a kid I was scared to death of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa. I would throw a fit if we had to cross it. I had a premonition about it collapsing with a greyhound bus on it. My sister came to visit us during Christmas of 1979 on a greyhound bus. When we took her to the station to leave I asked my step father if the bus had to cross the bridge...he said yes. I became hysterical begging her not to go. She had to get back to Atlanta and finally got on the bus. I just knew she was going to die. This was between Christmas 1979 and new years day 1980. In may of 1980 a barge hit that bridge and it collapsed, sending a greyhound bus into Tampa Bay.
I was 7 years old and we were living in Brunswick Georgia when a ship struck the Sydney Lanier Bridge and it collapsed, killing several people. It looked an awful lot like the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, at least to a kid. I was 14 when the Sunshine Skyway bridge collapsed. I am certain that my premonition about it was based on the Sydney Lanier bridge collapsing years earlier. What made me think there would be a greyhound bus on it I do not know. my mother had dated a driver for greyhound for a while and I despised that bastard so that may have been it but who knows what goes on in the mind of a child....all I know is I could vividly see a greyhound bus falling from the Skyway at least a year or so before it actually happened.
