It’s a “super pill” and it’s invading the streets of Pinellas County. So far, it’s killed nine people in a matter of weeks.

The lethal contents of this small, white pill are cleverly packaged. The pill looks just like a Xanax. But, looks can be deceiving. And, as it turns out, deadly. The fake Xanax is mixed with a powerful pain medication called Fentanyl, which is a highly addictive, strong pain medication commonly prescribed to cancer patients. The combination of Xanax and Fentanyl is so potent that it’s killing people within minutes.
quote:
Hanna describes the strength of Fentanyl. “It’s 80 to 100 times as strong as morphine and about 40 to 50 times more times as strong as street heroin,” he explained. “It’s easy to get overdosed on a very small dose.”

Is prescribed transdermally. You'd have to be such a dumbass to eat it.

Buying a pill off the street. What could possibly go wrong?

Seems like that would be more expensive than Xanax and would actually result in a net loss by selling it like this. I guess they don't care about profits as long as they can kill people.

At least it's thinning the herd in the state that needs the most thinning. Next up....Ohio, the FL of the north.

do you suppose more than nine people took it within the time-frame stated?
which tells me, much more than 9 took it and survived, no ?!
more likely the deaths were new junkies and the survivors were hardcore
I suppose, the xanax look was meant to have it blend in with normal drugs, which could have gotten into the wrong hands, and probably did

That is not a very sound business plan to kill your customer base within a few minutes. Don't they know that repeat customers is where you make your money?

Drug dealers don't care about business. They're not doing it to make money, they're doing it to kill children. That's their only goal, and they will stop at nothing.

This.
Fentanyl can't be "easy" to get? And are they actually combining it with xanax? Extracting fentanyl from a long release transdermal patch has to be some Walter White type chemistry to be done correctly. It also can be given nasally in some suspension (ambulances carry it) very strong but short acting.
Sounds very Florida-tastic.

I've heard of mixing xanax with merhodone to create a heroin type buzz. People, especially young people, have been abusing the gel in those patches for years. Eating, smoking, and shooting. Lots of ODs.
