I’m always jealous when I see these boomer retirement threads. As a millenial, all we’ll get is President aoc’s Canada shot

Thank you for making sure to add the "Pro" because that made a big difference. Dork.

Don't do it
Hop on a cruise ship for a year. Or drive your car/truck and hotel it. Hilton Honors.

I think it would be great for a few months. No way I would want it to be a permanent lifestyle. And I would want a driver. Piloting that barge around would get old in a hurry.

Cheap arse. Get a Phaeton and roll.

Are you an OT baller? If you are on a budget i don’t know why you’d do a super and pull a vehicle. That’s just lighting money on fire imo.
Have you spent any time in an RV at all? I’ve only done about 3.5 weeks over 3 trips. But if there’s only 2 of you a super with a vehicle is a lot.
A 25-30 is plenty for 2 people unless you are an OT baller, with a 25-27 you can easily drive around town and just park a little further away and walk. Just my opinion but pulling a vehicle creates just as many issues as it solves.

Everyone I know (without exception) who has or currently lives the RV life are folks I wouldn’t want to get to know better “living” next door to them in an RV camp.
And driving the equivalent of a semi truck is not what old me wants to do for retirement.
Otherwise “good luck” with the 4Runner PRO, at least that’s one decision I could get behind.

Super Cs aren't that bad. It's the big Class As that I'd want to avoid. I have an expedition-style travel trailer now, but a 4x4 Class B would be ideal if they weren't over $200 for what is basically just a big van.

If you're set on a Super C, do yourself a favor and go with a Showhauler or a Renegade. I owned a United Specialties and have many friends with Showhaulers and Renegades. I like the stability of a Super C on the highway and the pulling power (vs. a motorhome). They are making them more comfortable these days, almost as fancy as a higher-end motorhome.

Not a boomer at all. We're late 40's. Played our cards right, kids are gone.

I'd love to do the RV traveling, but my hesitation is the current cost of fuel in a vehicle that gets less than 10 MPG.

Whoa now, there's millenials doing this as well. I love shitting on boomers but i have to be fair on this one.

Not an expert but the Thor Omni my parents had was kinda shite for what it cost. Lots of little fit and finish issues, weird electrical gremlins, to put DEF in it you had to lift it on the fill spout side as high as it would go so the DEF would vent properly to allow fluid in, there was a massive kink in the hoses to the fuel tanks from the factory so putting diesel in it was a slow nearly 30 minute process, the front nose cap had a small crack above the cab that the factory called "normal", the window over the dinette vibrated open and had to be duct taped closed when travelling, etc. Google them and you'll find many of these issues are quite common.
With that said Super C is the way to go, we borrowed it several times and it was quite comfortable for my wife, myself, and two small kids. Much easier to maneuver and get around in than a Class A. The Ford F550 chassis/6.7 diesel was fantastic too, and towed better than the Phaeton they had previously. Would also get ~10mpg when driving 65-70mph.
No experience with them but I've been told the Renegades are much better quality and you can't really go wrong with either the Ford or Freightliner chassis options.

My parents thought they were going to do this. They caved before selling the house, but after selling all their furniture. Had to buy all new furniture and never sold the house.
They were avid RVers for 20+ years. Mom couldn't handle the idea of no house to go home to. Which I agree. That's just weird to think about. Free and exhilarating, but weird... not sure I could do that.

Super C's are a bitch to turn, much harder than a class A - that's I got.
