Sunspot Observatory reopens Edit - janitor was looking at kiddie porn

Isn't the theory this had something to do with White Sands? Weird fricking deal when you throw in some kids shot video in there late last week and no one was around and it wasn't locked up

A couple articles have said that this either involves some type of spying or the observatory some how intercepted military communications.

Guess I've been under a rock, I have no idea whats going on in that story

It probably had something to do with a covert operation/tests in the area.

I though the observatory called the fbi in.

I think so too, as that goes along with the if someone had snuck in and no one was there, like the other guy had mentioned. Well, if it was due to testing something new that we didn't want the observatory to witness there would be no need for any real hustle and bustle in the facility.

Could also be some nutso disgruntled ex-employee made a terrorist threat, or mailed some suspicious power to the site.

"AURA has been cooperating with an ongoing law enforcement investigation of criminal activity that occurred at Sacramento Peak," AURA representatives wrote in a statement Sunday (Sept. 16). "During this time, we became concerned that a suspect in the investigation potentially posed a threat to the safety of local staff and residents. For this reason, AURA temporarily vacated the facility and ceased science activities at this location."

"However, our desire to provide additional information had to be balanced against the risk that, if spread at the time, the news would alert the suspect and impede the law enforcement investigation. I’m sorry but bs. That doesn’t explain why they needed to use a Blackhawk or why they were climbing the radio towers.
