No details on why it closed though other than they didn’t want to alert the suspect.

Isn't the theory this had something to do with White Sands? Weird fricking deal when you throw in some kids shot video in there late last week and no one was around and it wasn't locked up

Is there a link to that story about someone getting in?

A couple articles have said that this either involves some type of spying or the observatory some how intercepted military communications.

Guess I've been under a rock, I have no idea whats going on in that story

Last week, the FBI stormed an observatory and shut it down, but wouldn’t tell any of the staff why. The media didn’t cover this at all, and no one would answer any questions about what was going on, causing the internet to go wild with conspiracy theories ranging from Chinese spying, Nebiru, alien fleet sightings, planet x, etc. The most credible explanation I’ve heard is that the FBI discovered an antenna array at the observatory that was being used by Chinese spies to serveil nearby White Sands military base, a testing ground for experimental weapons and aircraft.
If I had to guess, it’s either something like that, or the observatory saw, or was about to see, something they weren’t supposed to.

It probably had something to do with a covert operation/tests in the area.

I though the observatory called the fbi in.

Is this the only sun spot observatory in the world? Did any others see something they shouldn’t have?

I think so too, as that goes along with the if someone had snuck in and no one was there, like the other guy had mentioned. Well, if it was due to testing something new that we didn't want the observatory to witness there would be no need for any real hustle and bustle in the facility.

The observatory is on a bill hill that overlooks a military base. I'm guessing it had something to do with that, though it's still really odd.

Could also be some nutso disgruntled ex-employee made a terrorist threat, or mailed some suspicious power to the site.

Exclusive CCTV footage of the FBI entering the observatory:

"AURA has been cooperating with an ongoing law enforcement investigation of criminal activity that occurred at Sacramento Peak," AURA representatives wrote in a statement Sunday (Sept. 16). "During this time, we became concerned that a suspect in the investigation potentially posed a threat to the safety of local staff and residents. For this reason, AURA temporarily vacated the facility and ceased science activities at this location."
..
We recognize that the lack of communications while the facility was vacated was concerning and frustrating for some," Sunday's AURA statement added. "However, our desire to provide additional information had to be balanced against the risk that, if spread at the time, the news would alert the suspect and impede the law enforcement investigation. That was a risk we could not take."
I’m sorry but bs. That doesn’t explain why they needed to use a Blackhawk or why they were climbing the radio towers.
