was shocked how cold the ocean was in LA. I've been twice, both times in August, and both times the water was COLD.

I remember that realization as a kid when we went to Cali. But then a year or two later in school we learned the Pacific was a cold water ocean.

Hey, let’s visit SOCAL in May? Oh you haven’t heard if May grey? We’ll just try June. You mean June gloom? frick it, we’ll take our chances in July. Let me introduce you to no sky July. Needless to say, for all of you amateur travelers, California weather is overstated. Visited last year in May/June and probably saw the sun 10% of the time during the day and it was a little brisk.

My biggest misconception about southern Cal is that the ocean temps were the same as the Florida panhandle. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Pacific is cold in that area even in summer.

Looks like quite a few people beat me to it.

I visited San Diego in early February. It was sunny and warm everyday. Watched guys dive off cliffs to go surfing. No clue what you’re talking about op

Lived at MCAS El Toro in Orange County for five years while in the Corps. You're wrong.

Sorry, dude, when you stand in the street and yell at my wife and I because we won't give you a dollar or buy you a drink, you're homeless scum.

I can’t say I’ve ever experienced this, every time I’ve been in SoCal it is cloudy in the morning until about 10 am when the clouds burn off and it’s sunny all day.

I think your experience was a fluke.

Worst time of the year to visit. They refer to that time of the year as, "June gloom."
