This is great. It should be the first thing on the news tonight. These guys have their lives for our country. A great reminder of the wars in our countries past and sacrifices made.

US subs were responsible for over 50% of all tonnage that was sunk in the Pacific.

That percentage would have been even greater if our torpedoes at the beginning of the war had been reliable and not faulty.

It's incredible that the failure rate of torpedoes hit 50% at one point. The USS Tang was sunk by one of its own torpedoes that malfunctioned and came around and hit the USS Tang the stern.

"Greatest generation", absolutely.

A lot better men than I'll ever be.

Great respect for those fellows. May they RIP.

Public facilities, bridges, etc should be named after men and women who are killed in the service or in the line of duty, not after shitbird politicians .

Probably not. You really wouldn't have a chance because of the bends, but the deepest free dive record is over 800ft.

Sub duty is voluteer, but they apparently even allow females on subs now. It takes a special person to volunteer for sub service and the hazard pay associated with it is pretty low.
