I was a water bucket carrier for my uncle's flooring company at that age.

Made me realize quick fast and in a hurry that I was going to do well in school so I didn't have to do that for my career.

Funny story, while it made me never want that life, the money was good and I worked there every summer and a day or two a week during the rest of high school and college. When I finally hung it up, I was one of the top paid flooring-setters on his crew.

It gave me a skill, and it was day/weekend job that paid so well I could take lesser-paying career oriented jobs (worked in the state house for three years).

Construction is a good way to go.

I have a moving company. This summer I'll be hiring high school and college kids for part time work. It pays very well and, while physically demanding, it doesn't take up all of their free time. The jobs are sporadic and short, usually 2-4 hours around 3-5 times a week. I pay cash on the day the work is done. They seem to like that.

Your kid is doing the right thing looking for a job early. A lot of kids wait until school is out for the summer to start looking. By then all jobs are filled.

I started working in the summers with my father building houses on BR. Lots of heat and humidity! I learned skills I would use throughout the rest of my life. I also learned I wanted to work in the air conditioning so I eventually became a programmer.

One summer I worked with a diesel mechanic and another summer I worked the warehouse for a light fixture / appliance company.

I learned a lot at each job.

Granted it has been 10 years since I was 15, but I am almost positive most stores/restaurants/etc. won't hire anyone below 16.

Blue Bayou and Dairy Queen were the only two who did when I was 15. You may have luck finding relatives/friends who want help.

If you live up north, have them caddy at a country club. Great money, they'll have to be up at the crack of dawn on the weekends so it'll help curb the desire to go get shite housed all night.

Lifeguard

+1

Lifeguard and taught swimming lessons. Too bad we didn't know much about sunscreen.

My son worked at a hockey shop that did a lot of online business. He really liked that job.

ETA: Never mind, neither of those were jobs for young teens. I babysat as a young teen.

Picking watermelons will make a man out of him..
Working at a golf course was my favorite because 6 of my best friends worked there with me it was the best two summers of my life.. We tore up so much equipment and spent 90% of our time goofing.. Best part was when we got off at 3 we would play golf for free..
Or you can always can get him on with a grass cutting Crew weedeating but that's boring..
I would insist manual labor for minimum wage..he will thank you latter in life
