Dillard's, then get it tailored if you have time.

Joseph a bank, men's wearhouse, etc are clearing them out, as are just about everyone else online. Depending on how much time you have, order one close to your size for cheap, and bring it to a local Taylor.

You will look much better in a cheap suit that's well tailored than an expensive suit off the rack

Depends on what you’re looking to spend.

You looking for a fairly inexpensive custom-tailored suit? Try Indochino in Nola (I know you mentioned that you are in the BR/Gonzales area, but I figured I would throw a suggestion out there).

I just got two tailored suits from them for around $800 in total (i.e. ~$400 per suit) and they are fantastic. Their fitting process is very detailed, and I lost count on the number of things that they let you customize for your suit.

ETA: You will need to book a fitting appointment in advance if you decide to try them out.

Don't purchase a black suit, for a number of reasons. Since it seems you're required to have one for a wedding, just spend like $75 to rent one from a formalwear store.

Did you have Phyllis Taylor in mind?

If the wedding reception is open bar, then suggestions above like Dillard's or Jos A Bank sound good. If it is a cash bar, then Walmart, and only because Family Dollar doesn't sell suits. If the bride's old man ain't gonna splurge, why should you?

I spent $1400 on a fully custom suit in Denver. $120 on custom made button downs. It's well worth the money if you plan on attending formal events on the regular. I was a skeptic and a cheap-arse, but I firmly believe in custom tailored suits now.

yeah just go to local Jos. A. Banks or Dillards by mall and buy one and have it tailored to you.

Also would suggest navy over black but to each their own.
