I think that was to be interpreted as anytime the occasion supports it.

You aren't wearing a suit to the neighborhood pool with your kids on the weekend, but getting dressed up for work even when you just have an internal meeting should be the norm. Not the exception, IMO.

My job is business casual and less so than I'd like. We are allowed to wear polos and pants May through September and button downs and pants the rest of the year.

It's the official dress code for guys but not really enforced in any way.

My last job was no shorts, flip flops or vulgar t-shirts unless you were working with clients. In that case it was business casual or whatever the customer's dress code was if we were going to their offices.

Hearing you will be at work and this is your work dress... I’d suggest likely going with a nicer shoes and shirt, as minor upgrades without going crazy or seeming out of place but acknowledging you are serious about it.

Does the supervisor wear a suit? That may guide the advice though. Likewise, might suggest either way that you up your game a little day to day unless it would be abnormal in the setting

I would be laughed out of the building showing up for an internal interview in a suit, despite working a white collar job.

Don't be the douchebag who shows up in a suit for a fricking supervisor position. You aren't aiming for an executive position. Wear business casual...at most, maybe a blazer, slacks, and a pressed dress shirt.

Unless I know the event would call for a suit, I usually go dress slacks and a blazer. But I've been the only guy in a suit before and don't really care. If you have a formal event at a moderately formal place, I'm wearing a suit unless otherwise noted.

Like I said, you probably run in higher class circles than me. But 90% of folks don’t.

frick no. You're lucky to see my shirt tucked in if I don't have to go to the office.

But an interview is at the very least a coat if not a tie. Always dress above what the job is. Business casual everyday for the job means a suit for the interview. Job at a grocery store or something means business casual for the interview.
