But an interview is at the very least a coat if not a tie. Always dress above what the job is. Business casual everyday for the job means a suit for the interview. Job at a grocery store or something means business casual for the interview.

I think the only caveat is the assumption that this will just be an hour out of 3 different work days, at his workplace so I assume there’s expectation that he’s roughly in standard work clothes. In that case I think you can subtly up the sneakers to good shoes, and the polo to a nice dress shirt for at least initial and maybe save the suit to upper level as it progresses.

While this is decent advice for a new hire, an internal interview should be treated MUCH differently, imo.

I don't even wear a suit to a funeral. Just slacks, long sleeve button up shirt and a tie.

re: Suit or No Suit to Interview
It’s funny to see the guys that you know don’t wear suits very often show up to a cocktail party or function in an oversized suit when everyone else is dressed in business casual attire

That’s who you people remind me of

I don’t want a job where I have to wear a suit everyday

What don’t you get about that??

I had to wear long sleeves and a tie everyday at my first job out of college. It sucked arse in South Louisiana. Miserable.

The saying was tongue in cheek. My post before that was not.

If you're interviewing for a supervisor position, and I'm assuming it's not in a plant, you should wear a coat or a suit.

Dress at least to the level of the best dress person you will be interviewing with. I always wear suits to interviews, but I'm a professional and it would be strange if I didn't.

re: Suit or No Suit to Interview
Even corporate positions have gotten a lot more casual

You don’t want to go in overdressed.

Depends on the position and company, nice jeans/slacks, button down and BB Sports coat with some sweet shoes or boots is very acceptable these days.

Suits are cheesy.
