Suicide Lake Charles - Prien Lake Park
Just saw a headline that says someone committed suicide at PLP this morning on a bench.
Especially all the details you presented.
You ought to consider writing a regular Optomist’s column here.

Easily accessible residential voltage/current is too unreliable. Most often just hurts and burns.

Correct. I witnessed this firsthand on a case I handled. The person tried it with the connections on their AC unit. Stuck his hands in, shocked severely. Failed.
Went down the beach. Found another electrical outlet (I can't recall exactly what it was, but it was reachable to him by hand). Touched connections, major shock. Failed.
He ended up hanging himself on a pier. Success.

It’s just a place a lot of people go daily so just strange.
I agree. Most of these things happen in privacy of one's own home. To do that on a bench in a public park makes it strange to me as well. I guess I'm glad that in todays world he didn't take anyone else with him (mass shooting or something). My kids walk that park regularly.

My uncle-in-law lives one street over from that park.

I guess it came off more rude than I thought, but there was no information... Just "I saw a headline that said someone killed themselves".. paraphrasing.. My response was more like "okay.. more info?"

It was just my poor attempt to be funny and came off as buttholery.

I can't argue with that.
