Pelican Thrift in Mid City has quality furniture for relatively low cost (obviously second hand, but usually good stuff)

I normally hit up Doerr for good furniture but if you're on a budget Comeaux's discount warehouse is worth a look.

Dillard’s in lakeside. Dead serious. Always have clearance prices on floor stock too. High quality stuff. I recommend Bernhardt.
