Is it in the upper front/outside of the leg (anteriorlateral)?

Maybe meralgia paresthetica? Do you wear a heavy tool belt or wear tight/skinny jeans?

Yup . Had this from wearing my belt too tight. Pinches the outer nerve.

May not be nerve pain then...

Go see a good PT for an evaluation and go from there.
Just in case...

When he gets to the "other side", be sure to tell my great great grandpappy, "Hi from all of us still among the living".

May be your hip flexor needs to be stretched out. If it's a shooting pain out of nowhere while you're walking, that could be it. Try this stretch:

hope it helps.

Thanks for the suggestions. Latest google search is leading me to think Trochanteric Bursitis. Feels a little better today but still having difficulty walking and definitely not pain free

quote:

Trochanteric bursitis typically causes the following symptoms: Pain on the outside of the hip and thigh or in the buttock. Pain when lying on the affected side. Pain when you press in or on the outside of the hip. Pain that gets worse during activities such as getting up from a deep chair or getting out of a car. Pain with walking up stairs.

So looks like I have old woman hip pain...

Your Fallopian tubes are starting to go out. Add blinker fluid.

Dude you should go get checked. An colleague of mine had a similar issue, it was a blood clot and they found he also had leukemia. No joke. 29 year old healthy guy. Major bummer
