I drive a 2017 F-250 payments are only $972 a month for 84 months. Love being a 30 thousand dollar millionaire. Might have to pull the kids out of private school but damn this truck is fine.

You know, I read this title and thought "that's interesting and I'd actually like to read the study to learn more, because I can actually see this being true."

Then I read the post and realized you're just a poor who wanted to rant some nonsense to make himself feel better. Enjoy the downvote.

My wife and I do pretty well and both drive reasonable cars that are paid for. We put our money into a nice house and camp, and next year looking at picking up a place in winterpark Co. Its all about what's important to you, and for us it's having nice places to get away to. OP totally comes off as a jealous little bitch though, even if there is some truth to it.

The poster came onto TD pretending to be Wes Branch, who was in the MTV reality series "Caged" (2012).

The smart way to drive cars is to have a daily reliable "reasonable" car that will not be expensive to maintain and will not significantly depreciate.

Then, in your spare garage spot, have an expensive classic car of your choosing that you can drive at your leisure.

Winning.

This is a somewhat dumb and highly subjective discussion, but in my experience, truly wealthy people buy less frequently, but still buy nice (though perhaps not extremely nice) vehicles.

I see a lot of luxury vehicles that are 8-10 years old.

One of the lead surgeons at Touro drives an Accord... and a nephrologist I was talking to the other day still drives his 04 Suburban...

It's usually the women CRNAs who drive the BMW's and Mercedes... I guess they need to feel special..

Didn't Sam Walton drive an older model F150...

Forbes did a study a few years ago that showed something like 2/3 of the top 2% drive Toyotas and Hondas.

Everyone knows this which is why I disguise my success with my "non-reasonable" vehicle

It never bothered me what anyone drove. I could care less. If someone can afford what they are driving and it makes them feel good about themselves, then go for it.

I know just as many dickheads that drive sensible autos as I do ones that drive luxury cars or overtly over the top car candy.

I grew up with "things" so "things" don't impress me.

Read "A Millionare Next Door"

It shows how bad people can be with money (particularly doctors). It also pointed out that a lot of very wealthy people drove reasonable cars.

They mentioned Buick specifically.....a lot of them are paid for in cash from very wealthy buyers that replace their cars every 6-8 years at the same dealer, often the same salesman.

I think they also mentioned that most self made millionaires owned a pickup truck at some point in their life.
