The dead people and enablers seemed like they had dumber takes.

I know someone that very recently went into psychosis because of weed. It's not as safe as I thought or that people make out. Weed psychosis is very real and this person did not smoke a lot to get there. Scary as hell.

Either you’re lying, they had an underlying mental illness, or it wasn’t just marijuana.

This escalated due to the Affordable Care Act/Obamacare.
When I entered the medical field in 2000 this wasn’t the case. Early 2012 it exploded.

You are a fricking moron. This has been a problem way before 2008. It actually started in the late 1990.

There are a lot of dumb post on this board, this might be the top 10 dumbest. And if anyone disagrees with me, please provide evidence of how the ACA caused this epidemic.

I dont think he was trying to say it was THC alone that did it. 100% had an underlying condition.

Wait til it happens to someone in your family. Could be the one you'd think would be LEAST susceptible.

But I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Not even an a-hole like you.

I’m jealous of you for being so naive, it means nobody close to you has any sort of addiction. Hope it stays that way

Not complicated. But. A lot of pieces. Like the carnival game you put quarters or tokens in and it’s a little bulldozer pushing over an edge. Takes a ton of quarters then that one coin knocks 50 over.

The final coin to me was making hydrocodone a schedule 2. This threw the world off of its axis. Heroin exploded and now everyone learned what fentanyl was. And Chinese fentanyl. And carfentanyl. I’ve been a RN since 98 and never heard or saw a cargentanyl OD.

Pill mill docs needed more regulation orto be shut down. That has happened.

A national database where medical people who give a frick can look up a persons prescriptions. We weren’t able to do that before. Amazingly. Now it’s there. Nothing sweeter that walking into a seekers room with their printout. “Um. Says here you’ve got 60 norcos and 90 MS contins in the last 2 weeks.

Opioids are simple. Addiction is not. You're confusing the two.

So, the hopelessly addicted "seekers" are busted for their Big Pharma addiction. Now what? You and I both know. They walk out the door with their Big Pharma addiction and find a heroin dealer.

Or they could seek help? Yeah right. It is easier to get into Harvard than an effective drug rehab facility. Since you are a nurse, then you and I both know that, too.

@Merck - So you call out people without so much as a whiff of backup? What a putz.

Every source has the figure at over 70,000 in '17 - and more in '18. Center for Disease Control stats above.
