Honestly, at this point would you be surprised if they did?
I really can't imagine something that drastic being done, no. Where I have been, and what I grew up around, this would have been crazy. They could move him to a different classroom....move the desks around in a way that he couldn't stare at her, lots of things, but suspend the child?
There might be other issues at work here, or the parents were warned....just like kids who got suspended for making their hands guns.
The parents were warned multiple times, and multiple weeks ahead, and the child continued to participate in the gesture, and then everyone wanted to raise up their pitchforks because the child got suspended.
Its not like it happened once and he was instantly suspended, he AND his parents had lots of warnings, and they ignored those warnings.
I hope the same thing occurred prior to this case. It would REALLY surprise me if not. If it didnt, then why is this in the news? Its news because its shocking and most schools wouldnt do such a thing.

Your link
The original link
Which is it?... There's a huge difference between the two.

Huh?...The OP and the OP's LINK say that the boy and girl were playing the staring game.
But according to the boys mother(Candice Tolbert)that's not true. She said “My son stared at a girl who was engaged in a staring game,”
That tells me that the girl was playing the game with someone else when the boy joined the game uninvited and that scared the girl.
Unless the boys mother is truly stupid she would have said "My son was playing the staring game with a girl" instead of “My son stared at a girl who was engaged in a staring game,” had they in fact been playing the game.
Like I said huge difference.

Schools nowadays are ridiculous. My son and his friends were reenacting a knighting ceremony with empty water bottle during lunch. They were given detention for assualting each other with dangerous objects. These pussified teachers would not have survived when I was in school.

right it sounds like he saw them playing the game and just joined in.. uninvited..
regardless even at that, i find the punishment too much if he's not known to get into trouble. he apologized and won't do it again.. it's not as harmful as made out to be.. he's just a kid being silly. geez.

He also wrote an apology letter.

“I understand I done the wrong thing that will never happen again. I will start to think before I do so I am not in this situation.”
He apparently wasn't learning much when in attendance.

God forbid if they were playing catch and he joined in uninvited. He might have gotten expelled.

The scary thing is the precedent something like this sets. Are we supposed to go about our day averting our eyes like in Monty Python?
Wear these like we are dealing with a gorilla?
Ridiculous.

The OP's link clearly states a judge already heard and dismissed this case. So there was apparently more to it than what the link wants to share.
LSU Tangerine needs to stick to his I Hate The PO PO threads and quit trying to make up for Strong Safety being gone. Wait a minute... Alter???

Glad you support The suspension of a child for staring at another child during a staring game.
