I feel like this is an uncommon statement from the NHC.

The NHC forecast explicitly calls for rapid intensification during the next 24 to 36 hours,

Neither are planning to evacuate yet. Don't like the idea of that, but doubt I'll be able to convince them otherwise
Mandatory evac for ALL of Lafourche now.

. It should be noted that some fluctuations in intensity are possible as Ida nears the northern Gulf coast due to possible eyewall replacement cycles
When you're hoping for eyewall replacement cycles to drop the intensity you're in deep shite.

I'm afraid those folks around Slackster in MC have greatly underestimated this storm.

Yeah but I could use new living room windows.

The weather media just loves saying “rapid intensification”.

We gonna get one of those "My dad, who you all know as Slackster here, has died" posts if he hangs around. I hope he leaves.

Best of luck to all y'all down there. Hoping for the best for you here in Dallas. Spent the first 23 years of my life in Louisiana and still go back often for work. Stay safe and get out while you still can.

Man, RIP to the Blue Bird Canal duck camp.
So many memories over the years and it'll likely be wiped out by this one.

Yeah, a whole home generator won't save your arse when you don't have a home to be in.

Morgan City is such a flood prone place, I can't imagine staying there and taking that chance. Ever see the giant arse metal gates they use to try and keep the water out?

so you thinking 60-70 mph gusts in nola and rain?
That seems like the best case scenario (for Nola) with the storm coming in at the center line or west of the current cone. If it comes in on the eastern edge of the cone it could be a lot more than that.
Our group is leaving New Orleans tomorrow morning. Can’t put wife and kids at the mercy of a wobble.
