I stood a 30 hour post in a concrete bunker at MOP 21 back in the day for a tropical storm.

crazy that Matthew is continuing to strengthen.

I'm not sure what's crazier.. the continued intensification or the continued southwest motion

Something about this colored version of the IR loops always seems more menacing.

Going to visit Jamaica for the first time in November. This would be the year it gets slammed with a Cat 4. I read somewhere the island hasn't taken a direct hit since 1988. Could be a difficult recovery for them. FML.

You could still go visit in a humanitarian capacity. It may be a life changing experience for you and the people that you help.

Very true. They will need all the help they can get if the forecast holds.

I've been to Falmouth, Jamaica and some of the nearby towns on the northern coast of Jamaica. As you'd expect, those homes will not hold up to a major hurricane. It will be utter devastation. I do not wish this hurricane to hit land anywhere.

It is amazing that those structures hold up to a summer time thunder storm

Really starting to sink SW over the last little bit, I don't think any model had it going below 13N
