Having trouble finding the eye?
Well the damn picture autoupdated and ruined the comment. Regardless, pressure on the pass was 936.9, slightly higher than it was on the previous pass.

We have been taking a hard hit in West Palm from the north for about 2 hours. Still have power and satellite which is amazing. Not sure the rain totals but the wind gusts have been close to 100 mph for a while. Microbursts are kicking

That a slow loading gif or did you post the wrong picture the first time? Need to know so I can stop staring at it.
ETA: Nvm I see the edit.

Yeah it looks like West Palm is pretty close to the eye wall. Stay safe

Seems like there has been a little bit of a bend westward in the last few minutes. Not a big turn or anything, but a little bend.

0z GFS taking it very close to shore, but this is as close as it gets on the run.

Is the eye breaking up as much as it seems or is it just temporary?
Edit: nevermind my gif didn't upload the frames I was referring too...

John's Island is a big island and has a good bit of high ground unless you're right on the marsh, IC, or river. Not a bad place to stay but getting power back will be a bitch. I live on the island directly east of that. Almost all of my neighbors are staying put - they were here in Hugo and said the neighborhood wasn't even close to getting significant water.
You may very well be okay on James Island, but it's likely to be pretty miserable for a few days.
Also, Hugo made landfall north of Charleston and spared Charleston/James Island. This is a different storm.

The eye moved a bit away but it's now pushing pretty hard backside westerly winds. And yet the power is still on.

Seems to be that the outside wall is overtaking the inside eye wall. This was expected and can be seen pretty clearly on radar.

TWC just said that most of West Palm is without power so it seems like you one of the lucky few with power. Also, not sure what's south of you but they've already started power outage repairs where the storm has already passed

Wow this thing took a real bob north

Seems like Melbourne is the next area that's in the hurricane's cross-hairs

Yep That sounds exactly like what I was seeing

So the 0z GFS has Matthew (the remnants of him) and Nicole within 100 miles of where they are now after 120 hours. Pretty insane.

Maybe I was wrong about the bob north. Just watched the evening tropical tidbits video. Very interesting. As the outer eye of the storm takes over he says the inner eye will orbit the outer eye as it fades which can be deceptive.
