So many different reports, most say he's in custody.

Dude should just land the plane and take the federal prison time. He can get a book or movie deal later. He’d probably not be prosecuted if he needs mental help.

If I owned the plane and he landed it without any major damage I wouldn’t press charges on the premise he sought out professional help

Don't forget the plane. Guessing $2mil give or take.

A recent model King Air 90 would definitely be above $1.5M. Fuel capacity is 539 gallons. Current price of 100LL near me is $6.79/gal at Briscoe Field in Lawrenceville, and $6.20/gal at Barrow County Airport just a few miles away in Winder. That's better than $3500 in fuel that was just wasted.

Prices at TUP look to be averaging $6.84/gal for 100LL.

He did.

I saw a guy once who managed to hit the only tree in a thousand acre bean field.

You can’t land a plane like that and not have major damage. Just the props alone are 10s of thousands of dollars each

Everyone knows you have to go WITH the rows if your landing in a soybean field.

bullshite, that's one badass story once he's served time and is rehabilitated

crash landing a king air in a field and walking away from it is impressive

thats not what happened here

This early into the investigation (has an investigation actually been commenced yet), what do we know about how he got control of the aircraft?

All I’ve heard is that the aircraft belonged to someone else, which would almost certainly indicate that his entry into the cockpit might not have been authorized. (Barring being in there for some legitimate purpose immediately preceding taking off with the plane.) Even if he worked at the airport and had a key for occasional access to the plane, if he was not supposed to be in there at the time, he would technically be “breaking into” the cockpit even if he used a key.
