Never thought about this but if my car flips I am for sure not strong enough to break a window.
Nobody is without some type of tool.

Here's a kicker. Auto manufacturers have just started putting laminated glass, like your windshield, into side windows. Which means they won't shatter like Safety Glass (tempered). They are doing it to prevent ejections during crashes and to provide more roof integrity in roll overs but it screws you in a water scenario. It's only in certain models right now but they are heading that way for all cars.
Side note. This is going to really frick with the vehicle burglars in NOLA.

Back when I was a kid I always thought the gas stations right by the causeway were missing out by not selling these.

Thanks for that info. Always wanted to get one of those devices. Got two chartreuse for $17.

We have a device to break the glass in both our cars.

Like $3 at the Harbor Freight. Not much more elsewhere.
It is easier to use and requires no swinging or awkward movements during a panic in a confined space. Anyone can use it.

Can’t cut a seatbelt and that’s hard to stash readily

You can literally put it in your pocket. It is the preferred car entry device of most of your best car thieves working today.

The thing is you'll be digging around trying to find it, possibly upside down, and you'd have to keep it in your pocket every day. If you lay it in the console bin it could go flying under a seat in a wreck. And if you put in the console you probably have other stuff in there it would hide under, etc in a wreck.
So you'll have to dig your knife out of your pocket, find your tool, all very quickly.
This works just like what you posted, but has a way to attach it to something like your keys, mirror, etc. And has a razor blade seatbelt cutter on it.
You should really watch the video.
I didn't realize how quickly you really need to get out before I watched it.
