Trucks are outrageous now. A year ago I bought an F150 for $43K (stickered around $55K). 2 weeks ago I traded it on a Mach 1 - got $46K for the truck, and they are selling it for $52K (1 yr. old, 16K miles). They had only 1 new F150 on the lot.

Trucks that are the same make, model, year, mileage, and trim level as my truck are selling at about the same price I bought my truck three years ago. Which is the only silver lining that my truck hasn't lost much value compared to any other car I have had. Although it wouldn't shock me the bottom will eventually fall out in the form of a economic disaster.

Agree what happens when inflation does get under control? Will companies just lower their prices when they can continue to keep them high to increase profits? A trip to the grocery store is definitely an eye opener when you are used to seeing the same prices on items for many years.

I have a 2015 Chevy Cruze that I bought in 2016 with 24k miles. It has 54k now. My friend is a GM at a dealership and he told me he could give me what I paid for it which was around 14k. I'm not selling it though.

1. COVID overreaction and shutdowns were driven by the democrats and media in order to defeat Trump/ get Biden in. Both indirectly, to make voters miserable so they would want change, and directly, so that Biden didn't have to campaign in public. When you have a just-in-time economy and you just shut it down with no plan to start it back up again, that is your first terrible error. If it hadn't been shut down in the first place, then we wouldn't be in this fricked situation.
2. Printing and doling out "stimulus" money that has suppressed the labor market, while also continually extending unemployment benefits. Normally, people would need to get back to work. Now, not so much. Without employees, the supply chain is breaking down further.
3. Vaccine mandates. Instead of making rebooting the economy priority #1, the administration has chosen to push vaccine absolutism. This has even gone so far as to deny that people who've had COVID possess effective natural immunity. But, more importantly, they've gone down the path of using soft persuasion, and now hard mandates, to force the vaccine on people who don't want it on pain of losing their jobs. This has led to departures and firings that are further crippling the supply chain when it is already struggling to recover.
Those are the 3 most important ones. You could add a 4th, which is that the President is obviously addled and incapable of comprehending the situation, much less leading us out of it, while the people running him seem to actively want to destroy the economy/ middle class so they can reconstruct society. So, there's a genuine explanation.

We have no intention to sell but a similar situation on my wife's 4Runner. It's a 2019 TRD Offroad Premium package, we paid $40,000 for it. A few of the car buying websites offered $44-$46,000 for it when I was just playing around. I thought that was crazy but the dealership we bought from is taking the same packaged 4Runners, listing them for MSRP + $5000 market adjustment pricing, and selling them. So the same vehicle is now ~$54,000 just 2 years later.
TRD Pro models in the special color are getting $10,000-$15,000 market adjustment pricing from some dealerships. No thanks.

I sold a 2016 Audi Q3 with 35K miles on it to Carvana yesterday for 28K. I only paid 35K for it new over 6 years ago! About a year ago KBB was 20K for that car.

We're talking about a supply-chain disaster that has been building over a year and a half. Extended unemployment benefits were paid out over most of that period, and helped create the fricked situation we're facing now.
Plus, millions were still getting unemployment benefits until a month ago. So the actual liar here is you, unless you'd like to try to crawfish into saying a month is "long ago."
