I'm confused and haven't been following this at all...I got news alerts on my phone yesterday that the cops were acquitted...so what's happening today?

The cops weren't acquitted, charges are not being brought by the federal Department of Justice. The alert you received yesterday was a leak of the official announcement saying as much. The official announcement is about to happen.

Out of all cases for black people to rally around, this is a terrible choice.
He was a drug dealing child molester, had an illegal firearm, and reached for it when they were trying to arrest him on video.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. This isn't Rosa Parks getting arrested for sitting at the front of the bus.

They still say "Hands Up Don't Shoot" to this day when the facts have thoroughly debunked that version of events, and significant evidence indicates that whole narrative was made up at the scene after by one guy that is a known race agitator.
