I've toured Germany in a rented Mercedes and a few years later on a rented BMW Motorcycle, and a few months after the fall of the Berlin wall, four of us did a self-planned Eurorail tour - I found the country fascinating.

You need to rethink this. My brother was stationed there for 3 years and absolutely loved it. Have a buddy whose son is there now and has been posting pics and it is stunning.

I mean, I'm pretty sure I was still in Germany when I visited the German Alps. Then again, what the hell do I know? I only lived there for four years.
