Didn't NWA have a member named DJ Yella?
I work with a younger black guy and his favorite thing to say is "I only date white or bright y'all can have the rest."

I have always found it kinda hilarious (and sad) that some black people actually act "racist" towards their own race when it comes to the shade of their "blackness"
Wars in Africa have been fought over it.

No, I'm from Gulfport. I have friends from BSL and Pass, went to school in BSL, so I know that area rather well.

Curry is a brother we may not be able to embrace because the powers that be embrace him too. Curry is not the first black man who makes some black folk uneasy because America loves him as much as we do, but he may be the most popular contemporary figure evoking that dilemma. And Curry’s color is at the heart of that dilemma.
wow.
fricking filth in "da cultcha"

I'd give them babies that look like highlighters.

You know who hates black people the most? Other black people. I've never understood it either. Then again, looking the continent of Africa itself with all the civil war going on, I guess it's not too farfetched.
But they hate successful native Africans that move here most of all.

Technically, that's not racism. Wars in Europe have been fought "over it" as well. That's just land and nation states fighting.

All white boys need to sit in the corner of the room and let folk work that out amongst themselves.
The terms "light, bright, and high yellow (very old school) are real terms and seem to be a real issue among blacks. Just one of those topics you overhear being discussed when you pass by or over hear. It's not really discussed when they know others are listening. So, IMO it must be a real issue. Intra-racial racism! The sweetest kind.

This is such a stupid mentality to have. Same way some black people look down on other black people that educate themselves and start acting too "white".

Didn't Spike Lee make an entire movie about the strife between light and dark skinned?

It's stupid but expected when your culture was oppressed on the basis of their color. It's just the natural reaction and progression of a social system. They still can't shake it, and they need to. They need a leader, not some race baiter looking for clicks.

This is the real issue with the mentality of race baiters in our country. They foster a culture of "us versus everyone else." These people act like they aren't a part of American society as a whole.

Is it just me or are these dumb shits promoting racism and hate speech more than most white people today?

Gotcha. St Stanislas, I assume. I'm sure you probably know Casey Wittmann's father, Ken, played LB for LSU in the late '50s. Mr. Wittmann was the PC city bldg inspector and did as much to get the city rebuilt after Katrina as anyone did. He has passed away, but I'm happy to have met him.
I have an aunt and uncle that live on E. Scenic. Like everyone else along the coast, they got messed up pretty badly by Katrina. I spent about 20 months helping get them back in their house. I'm from N.O. and had vacationed in PC, BSL and Waveland as a child. But my post Katrina experience was quite the indoctrination to the social castes in PC. Thread hijack over...
