I just picked up a couple cases of contino rioja reserva 2014 for $26 a bottle. Great wine for the price

Our tastes are likely different, but plenty of 88+ wines under $30.
I had a nice bottle of The Prisoner Saldo Zinfandel last week actually.

Plenty of good wines under $30 if you know where to shop. I find wines for half the price at Elios or Martin’s than Rouses will have them priced at. Not to mention being a regular I get a 10% discount. Anyone that buys and pays full price at grocery stores instead of wholesalers or online are idiots.

Alexander Valley Vineyards Cab
Saldo Zinfandel
Justin Cab
Daou Vineyards Cab
All great weeknight bottles well below $30 and widely available.
If you like reds and want a great bottle in the mid-upper 20’s, try some of the big name wineries’ options outside of Cab Sauv. Grapes like Cab Franc, Zin, Merlot can easily be $20-30 cheaper from the same winemakers.
I really like Chappellet’s Mountain Couvee. It’s around $25 a bottle whereas their Cabernet is closer to $65.

I haven't seen this, but wines by the glass even at high-ish end restaurants can be a gamble. 95% of the time reds aren't stored well and are served like 10 degrees too warm.

How about when ice cubes are stuck together and won't fit in my glass of Chardonnay to properly chill it? Drives me batty. I have to put the whole glass in the freezer for a couple of minutes...

I believe very much in redemption. Hope SS does well in life. I've seen plenty of other people do it with major bumps along the way.

I haven’t touched heroin in almost a decade but it will always be fun to bring up on the OT.
Guess I shouldn’t have started this thread and just went HAM in the craziest drug thread.
I think Mouton and his wife still work at that chain restaurant in Essen, maybe he can give us some wine recs from his Glazers rep

No worries. I'm just not a judgmental type of guy. I've read this board a little since about 09 but mostly in the past 5 years. Glad you are doing well. I don't wish that shite on anyone

I use the plastic stemless wine glasses more than my expensive real ones. Much less likely to knock over. I buy the Tossware brand on Amazon. Comes with a dozen and they're inexpensive, so its perfect to throw a couple in the wine bag when I'm going to a party or event thats BYOB.
I also have a set of the stemless plastic champagne flutes since we throw a big NYE party and I'm not about to have people breaking glass all over my driveway.

I thought I was the only one.
As sentimental as DiGuilios is to me, I sometimes say no to eating there just because I'm not in the mood for hot wine (they must leave the bottles near the food warmer) in a small glass filled to the brim.
Although last time I went, I noticed new glasses.
