Women are fickle. I would never be at the economic mercy of one.

I was a stay-at-home dad the summer after I finished grad school. I knew that once I was in the working world, the hours and travel would limit how much time I could spend with the kids. At the end of the summer, I was chomping at the bit to get to work.
Throughout my career, I have been able to balance out time for the kids and work. THat meant sometimes flying from India to the states and back to India so I could catch a performance, but so be it.

I'd fricking love to be a stay at home dad. Literally the dream. But my wife makes a school teacher's wage so that will never happen

Is it okay for a man to allow his wife to support him?

I wish my wife made more than me.
I would stay home in a fricking instant.
Alas, that is not the case.

A highly motivated stay home parent is priceless. I was “stay-at-home” for the summer before my oldest started kindergarten due to working in a school system. I gave him lessons every morning in letters, reading, numbers, and telling time. I do believe it set him up to do better in school, esp. in a public school. Those early years do make a difference. And having someone who doesn’t have any other focus besides their spouse, home and kids gives you a better home life. Traditional gender roles and societal beliefs make it better imo if that person is Mom, but every family is different.
