Seems like we reached a consensus.

Back to the issue. My understanding after further research is that while other states place SOLs on traffic citations (typically one year), I have not located a relevant SOL for Louisiana-based traffic violations. I'll dig more into state statutes and update the post for everyone else's benefit if I come across anything.

All I know is that it's not a moving violation. I don't know about statute of limitations, but I know that it will affect your credit rating if you don't pay it.

IIRC, it's a civil violation. That's why you have to pay some out of state company, you don't go to the regular court to pay, they knock your credit, and you'll never get arrested for it.

Go in there and say this:
"There is no evidence of my involvement with this alleged ‘crime,’ as well as the fact that I am not granted my 6th amendment right to face my ‘accuser’ (a camera); I see no way the government could prove my guilt beyond a reasonable doubt,” he continued. “I also see no legal requirement for me to implicate someone else in this process, as it is the government’s responsibility to prove a person’s guilt. It is also my 5th amendment right to remain silent on the matter."

We dont have them up here on the east coast. We have red light cameras around DC and Baltimore that ticket but not speed.
Virginia started ticketing and then said it wasnt right and they stopped. I couldnt believe that one. Id borrow some tags and run everyone in town just for GP

You are sadly confused. Those red light cameras in Baton Rouge have nothing to do with BRPD. The city of Baton Rouge had those installed and they are managed by a company from another state. They issue the tickets and they handle the collections. If someone doesnt pay they threaten collections or credit reporting, however..... they cant do anything to you.

They don't have a courtroom, only an administrative meeting type appeal.
They dont send out the tickets via certified mail, so they cant confirm you even received the notice.
They cant confirm who the driver is at the time of violation.
They don't have your social security to turn over to credit bureaus.
You didn't agree to any sort of contract or credit arrangement with them so how they threaten collections anyway.

Has this actually happened to either of you or are you just repeating bullshite that someone else told you?

I got a red light ticket 3 years ago and never paid it. It hasn't ever showed up on my credit. I know lots of other people here have posted the same in these threads.

They shouldn't even have your SSN to report you and you never signed into any contract with that company. Even if it did somehow end up on your credit report you could easily remove it.

All of this^^^^

They will send you stern messages that the late fees are stacking on and then you will start to get mail from a collection agency. Ignore all of it and keep an eye on your credit. 95% chance the whole thing disappears.

Here's a thread I bookmarked about red light cameras:

Letter from red light camera

how would they knock your credit if they don't have your SSN?

that is just a bullshite statement you heard from someone. they legally cannot do anything to you.

some suckers pay them, most don't. that's how they make their money. from suckers.

I'm sure if La could go back to 1997 and issue me a fine for failure to proved that I swapped to Texas insurance on my truck, there probably isn't a statute of limitation on a traffic violation either.

BTW...they wanted proof of that issue, I found proof, since I'm a packrat and keep old documents. No fine for me. Just a lot of worry to begin with...But now I'm leery of throwing anything away.

I'm pretty sure it's statue of limitations.

I don't check my credit, and I've never paid a camera ticket (maybe 20 or so total). I don't even read the letters they send
