State trooper sentenced to 27 years for 'abhorrent' child sexual abuse crimes

A now-former Minnesota State Trooper has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for the production and distribution of child pornographic.

Jeremy Francis Plonski was sentenced on Tuesday to 324 months in prison and 180 months of supervised released after pleading guilty to the federal charges in October 2025.

Plonski – who was hired by the Minnesota State Patrol in 2022 and was fired in the wake of his May 1, 2025, arrest – was found to have produced 23 pornographic videos involving children between April and October 2023.

In some of the videos, Plonski recorded himself sexually abusing a child while wearing his state trooper uniform.

He then sent “four or five” videos of him committing the crimes to a user he had befriended on Kik, a social media messenger service.

“This defendant took an oath to protect the public, but he instead committed one of the most abhorrent offenses imaginable,” said U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen. “Today’s sentence represents my office’s commitment to protect vulnerable children and the cooperation among federal and local law enforcement.”

“As we said in our previous statement, no badge, no title, and no position will ever place anyone above the law. Protecting the vulnerable is our duty. Anyone who violates that duty has no place in this organization or in our profession,” said Colonel Christina Bogojevic, Chief of the Minnesota State Patrol.

“We are grateful for the work that went into this investigation and for the accountability that followed.”
