I graduated in 2007. I got laid off once and had to leave two companies in less than 12 months that went out of business shortly after. Over the course of 12 years in construction, my salary went up exactly $25K.
Three years ago I made the decision to switch careers and it’s completely changed my life. The recession definitely affected me and is still affecting me. You don’t erase 12 years in 3.

The boomers literally start a recession to kill the younger generation like every 10 years
They did it to millenials when they didn't impeach bush and they did it to our brothers the zoomers when they elected trump

On the other hand, the ones that started their careers post college in 2001-2003 got just enough of a leg up on those of us in 2004-2006 that when that recession hit around 2007-2008, they had the seniority to not get laid off, plenty of them still working for the same company, while those of us 2-3 years in bounced around jobs, taking pay cuts to just have income, and set us back.

Started aug 2006, in regular retail.... now we are part owners of 2 pharmacies... I guess we doing alright, as long as people need drugs...

Same. Graduated 2008. Was lucky to have a job and have slowly moved up in my career.
Made a big jump at the start of this year with enough cushion to allow my wife to grow her company she started in 2017.
And now I’m planning to be furloughed if this lasts into June.

Same here. Luckily I had an internship I started in 2007 and they decided to keep me on. A couple close friends In my field that I graduated with lost their post-grad jobs within 6-12 months and only 1 of them is still in that field. It was pretty rough.

Me too. Got out of grad school on ‘09. Economy sucked.
Finally got a career and I’m interviewing within my company for a promotion. Now this happens. This sucks for everybody.
