my wife and I wear matching gold bands. Mine is wider.
She picked them. net cost under $500 off the internet, then I took them to a jewelry store to have them sized precisely. Still just under $500, all told.

I'm gonna have to say 9.9 out of 10 women today that get engaged will say "hey look at my ring!" ASAP after they get engaged either in person or, more frequently today, on social media. My marriage is not for anyone else, it's for me and my SO. Now I obviously want to celebrate my engagement with friends and family, but the fact that women feel the need to flaunt their ring doesn't sit right with me. That's not the purpose, yet that's what happens. And it's no fault to the women, it's just the way they were brainwashed.

I'm not sure if anyone has said it but thats what 99% of people do in South and Central America. Nobody wears diamonds there.

Oh and to whoever said the thing about the 5 women in the room and one leaves and the rest talk shite. You are SPOT ON . It's comical. Everything is a competition these days.

You're just bitter about buying an engagement ring

Nope. Not at all. Ill happily buy one because I know it will make her happy. You, just like other women, cant stand to be called on their bullshite justifications. I do wear Carhartt all the time, in the woods. I just buy it from amazon instead of walmart .

Honestly feel sorry for your future spouse. She's got a guy who will begrudgingly give her the cheapest ring he can and wants to change all kinds of traditions just to be an asshat

You have no fricking clue as to what youre talking about. I indulge her with lots of nice things, we do lots of nice things together, own a nice house (multiple actually) with decent vehicles and love each other very much. I will get her the exact ring she wants because her happiness is what matters most to me. But because I call out this incredible scam that is the diamond industry, you automatically think I will

Exactly. And I called bullshite on all of that, which makes Paige think Im a cheap selfish a-hole that doesnt care about my SO's happiness

It's OK if you're upside down on all of these properties and don't want to admit it.

There are almost no women in our culture that would be OK with not receiving a true engagement ring with a diamond on it as evidenced by the women in this thread

I don't know how long you've been perusing TD, but if you haven't noticed, most of the posters here are middle class folks. Taking this website as a sample for pretty much anything is stupid.

Head on over to TheKnot or even Reddit, and you'll see thousands of women with inexpensive rings.. or even no ring at all.

Their mosquitos are also currently making pregnant women have deformed babies.

The frick does that have to do with anything? You can't drink the water in flint Michigan right now either. Try and stay on topic.

Nah. I'd rather travel and see the USA first before going to a 3rd World, impoverished country to sit on the beach with a bunch of geriatric European expats.

Probably young people or broke arse people. You aren't just buying the ring for her. It's also for her co-workers and family and friends.

No way was I coming off like a cheap mofo.
