I see no problem with this. If they think it'll make them appear friendlier and involved in the community then so be it.

You have to assume they'll change policies if they notice that their stores become inundated with hobos and they lose business. lol if they do become hobo sanctuaries and they don't do anything about it

Changing policies is racist. Best thing they could've done is nothing

I was in SB last week and some homeless guy walks up to the counter and takes one of the snack bars right in front of the register. He then proceeds to the side and grabs a random cup of coffee and walks out. The guy at the register watched the homeless guy the whole time and did nothing.

This has pretty much always been Starbucks’ policy. I guess it’s just official cause of the whole racist thing.

I know where I'm stopping at now when I'm on the road and need to use the bathroom. Normally I'd look for a gas station and then grab some snacks or a drink because I felt obligated to buy something in exchange for using their restroom. Now I can go to Starbucks and not even have to buy anything to drop a deuce on the road

Seems unnecessary after an incident that was SOLELY the fault of the people arrested in Philadelphia. But, if that's what Starbucks feels gives them better PR, then so be it.

Starbucks is a GREAT example of what good marketing can do. They have convinced the masses that it is cool/hip to overpay for what is generally a pretty cheap and common product (coffee). And they do it despite the fact the coffee or food is garbage. Starbuck's entire success rests on them containing to be a "cool" place to go. If it now becomes a bum sanctuary (and it may not), then people are going to stop going and it's brand goodwill will take a significant hit. Hipsters, SJW's, etc. like the IDEA of helping out the homeless and other "victims". They just don't like associating with them on a regular basis.

No one likes to blog post about changing the world in a place where you are harassed by dirty bums asking for change to by a $4.00 coffee drink while waiting to take a shite. If I'm Starbuck's competitors, I'm starting an ad campaign directing bums to fills Starbuck's stores left and right.

I don’t drink coffee, but I look forward to hearing about the liberal elites getting their morning coffee at Starbucks and going to the bathroom to find a homeless guy whacking it into the sink.

Sorry you live in a shithole. That doesn't happen around here.

Our Starbucks has conference areas that can be reserved.

I wonder if they will bump people from the reserved spaces or just piss away any customer loyalty to avoid confrontation.

Now their average customer will look as bad as their average cup of coffee tastes.

the last city I lived in built a beautiful modern library right downtown with a Caribou Coffee franchise in the lobby...my office was a few blocks away and I enjoyed going there to check out books on CD (pre-Audible days), get coffee, lunch on the roof decks... Until the homeless took it over and wouldnt leave. The bathrooms stunk like shite and BO, people washing their drawers in the sinks. 15 million dollar homeless shelter

This is my prediction for the new downtown Baton Rouge library.
