Star Trek summit coming to Baton Rouge

LINK

Texas and Louisiana members of Starfleet, the International Star Treak Fan Association, will convene in Baton Rouge on June 7-9 for the annual Starfleet Region 3 Summit.
The theme for this year's summit is "Captain Picard Day," focusing on Captain Jean Luc Picard and actor Patrick Stewart.

The summit will be hosted at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center by the USS Corsair, the largest and oldest Starfleet chapter in Louisiana, and supports the USS KIDD and Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank charities.

1 or 2 of you may be excited about this.

His Trekkies fame wrecked his life. Ended up having a bad falling out with his dad, becoming a drug addict and alcoholic, and losing his wife.

When I was a kid my sister convinced my parents to go to a Trek convention because she had a thing for Wil Wheaton. I got drug along and one of the speakers was Maria Sirtis (Counselor Troy) - I'm pretty sure that's when puberty kicked in for me at age 11 or 12 because I still remember her giant boobs barely contained in her shirt that day.

I didn’t mind TNG. I’d watch it with my old man on Sunday nights. A last hurrah before school Monday morning.
