50k is a lot for a single parent.

No it isn’t, especially if you’re a man and have to pay child support.

You can get by comfortably but it’s not a lot of money you won’t save much

Child support is rated on how much you make. At 50k it won't be that bad. Obviously different factors and your opinion of bad.

It is middle class. Especially if you don't have domicile rights. Then you are just a single guy who has a bill for a kid each month.

Free pre-k for 3 year olds is welfare.

If you mean it greatly improves the reading ability, writing skills, and general intelligence of at risk kids.... Sure

So what does income have to do with the school? Is it private with a big annual tuition, are only wealthier families allowed to send their children to the school or is it just the opposite? Something is very wrong with this!

That might be for the West Bank (West side of the parish). The east side will be higher as most of the income is in the Slidell area.

what is this moron talking about?

no one, in the entirety of life, has ever referred to the west side of St. Tammany Parish as the "west bank".

"Most of the income is in the slidell area"
what? you getting mandeville and slidell confused?

Yes. Actually.

Instruction is one of the few areas in willing to compromise on for social expenditures.

That doesn't address how the cost to the consumer makes the quality any different.

Tell them to come down to St. Bernard parish. We need more "high income" people here. We have universal pre-K4 for all students, at no charge, because we believe in a good education for all. No income requirements to attend public Pre-K4 here.

Edited to add Pre-K4 is free for all. We also have a Pre-K3 program that has some limitations.

I think we have reached a point in American society where compulsory and paid-for public Pre-K needs to be a thing.

One year of Kinder is not enough time to teach all of the basic building blocks of learning and life that these kids need before starting 1st grade. The world has gotten too complex and we are falling too far behind other countries.
