The whole DWB is exaggerated. Many blacks claim when they are pulled over for a minor traffic violation it's because they were DWB. In reality they are pulled over for a traffic violation but they felt it was because they were black.

A PD officer I know repeated the serious juvi record claim so that's three ppl from STL here on TD who've heard that.
Did you hear similar to mine? At least 2 prior charges that included force or violence or whatever you want to call it.

I'm not talking about it in a court of law, I'm talking about it in the court of public opinion.
I agree that that's perfectly legitimate especially for the public opinion and as much as I hate the overused idea, we do need to have serious dialogue on a community level with regards to race and not dialogue that is dialogue for the sake of dialogue. Nor do we need dialogue that's focused on catching each other in the errors but we need dialogue thats focused on actually learning others perspectives

The question is not whether it's exaggerated. The question is does it happen. The answer is yes. And on a fairly broad scale, both geographically and occurrence

All I know is once the work associate changed the look of his ride the DWB stopped.

He didn't give specifics he just indicated that it was serious and that the police officer would have remembered it if he ever run his name through the system before.

It's counterproductive for either side to deny the obvious realities that we know were present. Driving while black happens. Young black males attacking police happens. We have to focus on what's truth and how is Justice achieved in each individual situation. And truly push for color blind justice.
Empathy is crucial. What makes this country special is various types of people that built this thing from the ground up, and help it to continue to proposer. We are all Americans, and we should all be treated as so and feel like we all. We live amongst each other and should try are damnest to make sure they everyone's rights and lives are protected. That means we should recognize and contemplate why some people feel as if their lives and rights aren't as valued as much as others, under the law.
Economic justice will play itself out once we solve social justice. I'm a true believer in that. Although I support temporary government assistance (shite happens), I do not think it cures much in the long term. We need to make sure EVERYONE is treated fairly under the law and that we can empathize and make sure that we have equality there. Within our economic system, thee will always be disparities, but if we can at least carve out the proper and just social structure to ensure economic viability, then I think we will be good.

Obviously they were profiling the look of his vehicle based on the municipality he was driving in.
Once it became more non-conspicuous it stopped.

Once during college, I was pulled over on my bike by an officer because I fit the description(black male) of some of kids that had be stealing bikes around the school. Guess what I was doing on that Easter afternoon? Riding my bike to the library to return my books(our weakness) to the library. The ont thing that saved me was my college id that I flashed at the cop as he pulled me to his car door.
I have also been falsely accused of driving in a stolen car. Somehow the cops claimed that my car, based on the license plate, had been stolen. I was called to step out of car in the broad daylight, and patted down and handcuffed and thrown in the back of a cop car. As I sat in the back, I watched a cop illegally search my car. Obviously they found nothing and I was released, but that changed my whole perspective on cops. This happened at the intersextion of drusilla and corporate? In December 2011.
This stories aren't made up dude.

It's discriminatory. And it violates the rules that police have for establishing probable cause.
