The same as any other job that a mistake can cost a life.
So if a doctor makes a mistake, he tells the family he was just doing his job and mistakes happen? Or does he actually face consequences for his actions? That's the question. There will be no elimination of all "bad" police. That's utopian. But asking for more accountability for bad actors shouldn't be a bad thing.

They don't need to pay higher wages, they need to get rid of their mayor, Chief, police and bring in St.Louis County.
Fenton, who makes a nice chunk of cash, realized it's stupid to have your own police, when you can contract it out to better services. And the Lawsuits are eliminated. Insurance for claims against city from cops is gone.

Yeah, that is the white dude, who's the #1 instigator. He's on the megaphone stirring the blacks up.
Not going back to look for medic's post to see the pic, but if that's the guy I'm thinking of, with glasses, he needs to be taken out of the equation. If he wasn't, he needs to be arrested and removed from the situation.

Or did the poor little baby get his candy taken away?

They don't have to tell them what to say. They were hired because they already have those beliefs.

No. I think his opinion was right on. I don't think that means I have to subscribe to every position he's taken. Does that help?

To fix the situation, better training, better pay and make it harder to become a LEO. Our department has high standards, but a lot of departments are just looking for a "warm body."
I agree. Based upon my haphazard review of some of the more notable instances, it appears to me that a small number of police are responsible for a high number of the either mistakes or outright violations. But that union CBAs prevent the proper discipline or even termination of them. I'm not sure how that's properly handled. But I think it's a big piece of the overall situation.

It does, it helps your point. So I'm not surpised you don't think he is an idiot, yet seem t his ways of running a police force. Just making sure you were still contradicting yourself.

Two police officers responded to a 911 call about a man waving a gun at customers inside a Walmart store. According the Beavercreek police department, 22-year-old John Crawford disregarded officers' orders to disarm before being fatally shot in the chest. Crawford's gun turned out to be a .177 calibre BB rifle that he'd picked up from a store shelf.
Sounds like a good shooting to me. No protest needed.

I'd prefer to see many of the smaller, poorer municipalities just contract it out too. I think we talked about that earlier. Makes the most sense to me. Hell, Wildwood (rich and white) contracts it out to the County. I wonder how the economics of that would play out though. I'd have to imagine that's going to increase the funding needed for the County Police Department pretty dramatically and where's that money going to come from if they took over the job for Berkely, Ferguson, Jennings, St. John, St. Ann, Dellwood and others?

Incorrect. There may not be any immediate consequences. But because the doctor has to handle his own liability insurance, his own mistakes are eventually borne by him financially in his insurance premiums. With public servants, those costs are shifted back to the public. It increases a lack of accountability because they don't bear the financial burden even when they're judged to be liable.

It's not contradictory. But I'm hardly surprised you have another basic word for which you haven't quite grasped the meaning.

It was completely intentional. It's called self-deprecating humor. You can look it up as it's polysyllabic.

Maybe so but since I don't have personal experience with dirty cops its hard not to trust them. And maybe trust is too strong of a word. When I get stopped I consciously make sure to comply and not be an a-hole....b/c I know they can give me a hard time.
That article touches on something that can apply to lots of professions...unions suck.
