I have zero faith this passes... they should have the 25% min of sigs by now and they dont.

Interesting, just curious, what are you basing that off of?

You really get the feeling that the movement is led by a bunch of hot-headed arse-clowns. Everybody already knew that study was bogus. Didn't need a temper tantrum response.

This is a more succinct statement of what I was trying to say on the first page. If I wanted a bunch of arse clowns running things I would stick with the current administration. St. George needs to get above the fray and be seen as the responsible thinking mans choice.

there was a post a month or two ago by the SG leaders saying they had 11K sigs and needed around 13.5K in order to vote on this

They have 13.5. Now they are just getting the extras when the registrar tries to void legitimate signatures like they did last time. LA Politics at its finest.

Also, they are going to use almost all the time they can to get extra votes. If you go in with 17,000 signatures then you have 17,000 addresses, emails and numbers to reach out to when the vote comes around.

These guys aren’t rookies. Sometimes you have to beat them at their own game if you can create a new one.

12.9k

And the vote is 100% happening. I’d bet the farm on it.

They would literally have to flat out stop getting signatures at this point to not hit the number needed by the end of NOVEMBER.

It’s over. The vote will happen.

To seperate from the city of Baton Rouge, they first would have to be a part of the city of Baton Rouge

Together Baton Rouge’s own catchphrase is a lie

Unfortunate. Whoever the SG spokesperson is might as well have posted that on Tigerdroppings. No factual statistics to counterprove. Nothing but mudslinging.

SG needs to find better or we will not see this happen.

If this is how they act now imagine how awful they'll be if they actually run SG.

Agreed, better yet their spokesman should just look through the TD thread and steal some of the higher rated points. It is like someone was doing their work for them and they chose not to copy.

You see, the mayor and elites in Baton Rouge think you're stupid and will blindly accept anything they claim to be true, no matter how absurd. If this doesn't make you want to sign the petition, we don't know what will.

That's a strong statement.

That was not a professionally worded response.

That's why it will resonate.

I think they've lost my support with that response. I support their goal and by no means believe in the BR government to assuage any woes the people of south BR feel but I don't think I feel that the people in charge of the St. George movement will be able to really be successful in what they're trying to do with that kind of attitude.

yes

Opposing voice? Opposing an unincorporated area from incorporating? They have no voice in that decision.

They are calling out the right people with the right facts but they are still slinging mud as in those last two sentences. The St. George target audience isn’t the core Baton Rouge City audience. Point out the hypocrisy and then list your facts. Let the reader draw the conclusion.

Which is insane. People have started to act inflammatory simply so people will vote for them because they somehow believe that being brash like that translates into success. We need rationale level headed people making decisions... C'mon man.

Sure it's a strong statement, but look at the facts.

Mayor Broome, our elected mayor, comes out and challenges the amount of the proposed SG surplus and says it's not as much as SGeans indicated.

Then one of Broome's campaign managers forms a new non profit group in late June and in the first week of July, we get an independent study done by one of the same people who studied the SG for BRAF another SG opponent.

And SGeans are supposed to think all this is just good citizens getting involved and who just want to stop a bunch of crazies from ruining the parish?

This is nothing but the EBR establishment trying to keep power.
They don't want change, they like the government the way it is, the schools the way they are, and they are using every method they can to stop SG.

I'm a SG guy. By that I mean I I've in SG and support the SG movement.

But I'm not in the organization. I just believe an ISD is vital to our community and I'm resolved to the fact, we have to form a city first.

However, I am becoming more and more for a city. City Hall wants the status quo for one reason, to keep our taxes where they can spend them.

It would be nice if more posters would honestly declare whether or not they live in the SG area. I value their opinions either way. Others that come here opposing SG and just spouting racial BS are what bothers me. That and the pro city hall line.
