The anti-St George crowd in a nutshell. Good analogy.

The city of BR can save itself.

If St George becomes a city it can go the way the people in this area want to go. I am willing to pay more in taxes to see our tax dollars stay in this area.

I think taxes will go up for everyone as even people in The city of BTR use some unincorporated money to pay their bills. There will be less money coming from unincorporated areas to pay the city’s bills.

If the city parish wanted to represent the residents of this parish properly they need to separate The City of BR Government and Separate Parish Government. What maybe good for the city may not be good for the other residents of this parish. This would also make The City of BR raise taxes to pay their bills or cut their budget which will never happen.

Yeah, it also conveniently cuts out L'Auberge, the Mall of Louisiana, and Perkins Rowe.
They didn't cut out anything. Baton Rouge annexed it already so it is no longer in the unincorporated part of the parish.

I’m not 100% sure but I’d bet that’s on the agenda soon after the creation of the great city of St George, LA.

St. George could keep East Baton Rouge parish viable for another generation.

Indeed. If you were looking for longterm health of the parish, I don’t know why you wouldn’t be all for this. Even if you live in BR, the city of St George forming and keeping the tax dollars in the parish is a necessary evil.

Mayor Doom should read the tea leaves. StG is the only way to stop the bleeding. And ever since Alton, Silky Slim, the police shootings and Tasha Clark Amar - EBR has like a sucking, chest wound of young families bleeding out of the parish.

You guys do it first. After that, Lakeview, Uptown and Mid-City are going to do this in NOLA.

The report clearly states that the City of St. George would operate with a surplus and would not have to raise taxes.

GLT wasn't bitching. He was copy and pasting Kibbles' facebook rants about St George

You should check out the St. George FB page. KB tried to take her rant onto their page and they handed her arse to her. Classic stuff. Too long to screen capture here though

Too bad it's not NBR that wants to separate. Broome could be the mayor and Gravy, Chauna, Marcelle, Silky Slim, Kibbles, Helmet Head, and Tarsha could be on the city council.

There would be no opposition to that incorporation effort.

I don’t live in St George’s boundaries and support St George.

That said, Its hard to defend the proposed city isn’t kicking out a certain group the way the map is laid out. The tiny gap that stretches just to balloon the area passed Perkins/Siegen pretty much says it al l

It's quite easy to defend:
1-They saw where their support was last go-round and mapped to that.
2-Last time, they drew the map of the complete area without cherry picking (you hear me, Gardere?) and were still called racists. If you're going to cry racism either way, screw it - go where the support is.

This place is going to be so epic in the time leading up to Election Day for St George once the petition is done.
