Besides paying more taxes how has the StG area improved?

SG is funded by sales tax. No tax increase there and SG is currently running with a $16M budget surplus. They're getting the backlog of City/Parish calls accomplished in weeks, not years.

When it is being sold at fire sale they will pick it up for pennies on the dollar and turn it back into green space to help with flooding.

And actually the mall is St George’s all the anchor stores are still BR. Welcome to what everyone knew would happen. The thugs would start pillaging St. George. I heard yalls city police is top notch though……….a rich city with no police force. What could go wrong.

Thanks. Makes me care even less about the future of the mall.

So confident and so wrong.

The mall is BR. The anchor stores are unincorporated. None of it is St. George.

No, the Mall of Louisiana is not in the newly incorporated city of St. George. It is located in Baton Rouge. Before St. George became a city, the city of Baton Rouge annexed the mall and surrounding commercial areas on Bluebonnet Boulevard, keeping the lucrative tax base within the Baton Rouge city limits.

This is such an awful take. Wrong on the mall of course as others have pointed out, but also what law enforcement do you think the unincorporated area that is now St George had before that is doesn’t have now as a city?

Do you mean when the mall was annexed by BR back in 2014 during the first StG attempt with a larger area that a judge didnt allow to get on a ballot?
