It’s awful. He seems like a good man. I guess I’m curious to see what happened? The guy calls and turns himself in. St. Gabriel is a small tight knit community. It’s very sad.

Rumors I’ve heard are that he swings that way. Not sure about the killer, but I’m guessing this is what it is.
Crazy that not long ago one of their same cops killed his former lover for the same thing.

That department is so corrupt. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sheriff called for an investigation hoping it would then lead to further investigation into the police chief.

According to voterrecords.com, the victim was a republican.
Imagine that.
Imagine that.

And the dude who killed him had been arrested for robbery and failing to appear to court.
Missing court should be an automatic 30 days in jail, but these judges are pitiful.

PLAQUEMINE, La. (WAFB) - The suspect accused of killing St. Gabriel Police Captain Devin Boutte over the weekend had just posted bond 20 days before, the WAFB I-TEAM uncovered.
Warren Mitchell III was most recently arrested last month for robbery and missing court. His arrest history dates back to 2023 in Iberville Parish.

Stassi said Boutte and Mitchell were romantically involved, and Mitchell lived with Boutte for some time. Inside the home, detectives say they found crystal meth and other drugs. That evidence has been turned over to the State Police Crime Lab. Stassi said Mitchell told investigators that Boutte would supply him with drugs for him to sell on the streets of St. Gabriel and for Mitchell’s use. Stassi said that matched up to complaints on the streets his detectives had been receiving, but could not verify. During his recent arrest this summer, Mitchell told investigators that he had robbed a clerk at a store in hopes of going to jail to get away from Boutte. Stassi said Boutte went back to the store to return the money, asking that the charges be dropped.

Ever notice that most of the dirty cops are always at police departments and not sheriff departments? All the small PDs and their civil service / unions allow for this type of shite that gives all cops a bad reputation

ETA: Robbed a clerk to get arrested and "get away from Boutte"? This reads like domestic abuse or just meth paranoia (or both).

Sounds like it was all getting packed tightly before the incident.
