It’s big business and they’re being built in just about every state. I would think eventually supply will exceed demand. What I love most about these is that every weekend they host a state/national championship for kids in the same age range. Somehow hundreds of u-14 teams win a Natty each year.

HBO Real Sports did a good segment on travel ball sports tourism years ago:

Renamed The Launching Pad after a few of Aydyyn's tape measure shots.

So tourism is now defined as overpaying to watch some little league game and a gut bomb postgame meal at Applebees to celebrate getting the chance to be on super duper all-star-post-season travel development league? Not to mention the five star accommodations at the Hampton Inn in Buttfrick USA for $300 a night.

I don't know, maybe? For me, my kid absolutely loved to play baseball and I liked watching him. When we played at traction I had the added bonus of watching drunk dads make a scene over ridiculous sh!t.

I played Little League with a runt kid who never played travel ball. He has two World Series Rings. People made it to the Show just fine prior to travel ball.

I coached in Monroe for a long time. I did not know that the Osterland Rec in north Monroe had been rebuilt. All the fields are artificial and 6 of 8 are 200 feet. I assume they built it mainly for Little League and Dixie Youth tournaments. Really nice.

they mostly are overbuilt now

If not yet they will

They most all have amenities that are either not staffed or closed all together. They should all be more like Traction. Various field dimensions and decent concessions.

Look at Alexandria. We rebuilt our place with 8 200 foot fields. Once your kid is over 10 they can’t play here. Good for softball though, and softball people make travel baseball look like they aren’t even trying.

They're definitely nearing a bubble and will be a huge liability to many municipalities eventually. Here in Acadiana, once Youngsville and Broussard built there's, 3 or 4 other nearby municipalities announced they were expanding their parks.

That HBO report was pretty good. Did not know it was such a massive deal. My wife is sitting on a committee to discuss a new center like that here in CS, TX. And we already have some nice travel facilities here, plus aTm facilities as well that are used form time to time.

It’s badly needed. Madison literally has 5 baseball fields and 3 softball fields. Lady mayor doesn’t want Braxton and Jaxson’s parents ruining her brick city. How they supposed to make the majors if they can’t field a ball?

Ridgeland has 6 fields and between rec and 20-30 travel ball teams for each age group from 9 to 12, zero places to practice in Madison.

I always liked the soccer fields at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland. That’s a small, but nice, complex.
