I took a $49 round-trip from DFW to Chicago for a Cubs game and $80 round-trip to Miami for a Marlins game. Spirit, I will miss you.

shocking to learn you can't make money by charging less than it cost to operate your business

The money is in the baggage, seat, boarding fees

Spirit has been a train wreck ever since their inception, I'm sure there were subsidies that allowed them to stay on life support for as long as they did

If Spirit was so bad why did almost every other airline adopt their model?
Low upfront cost. Massive charges for bags, picking seats? Then airline went with smaller seats less fre perks.
Every other airline became more like Spirit.
Look at SWA it's spirit with 737s now.

I was going to fly spirit a couple years ago until a coworker told me about them. After a couple videos I just paid the extra money and flew united
After a bit of maturity, you learn that paying more buys you (depending on the circumstances):

- Time
- Safety
- Less stress
- A better experience

I had to use Concur for scheduling my corporate travel. After a year, Spirit Airlines showed upb in our search results. There was a revolt by employees, myself included, threatening to quit if forced to take Spirit flights. Turned out it was a coding error on Concur's part and once they corrected that error it was gone. (that's what they told us, anyway).

I'm still shocked that Frontier is around. I know WN almost bought them years ago but Replublic airlines wound up getting them.

I know Frontier has a good amount of aircraft on order I just wonder if they have enough to scoop up the pax that Spirit served.
