Spinoff: Why is Monroe dying?

No incoming industry or businesses. No new neighborhoods being developed. Poor housing market.
It just seems that of the other cities in Louisiana, nothing new comes here and rarely do new business survive.
It seriously makes me want to get out one day.

The whole country is dying. Everything has gone to shite. It’s not a local problem.

I have always thought that the smell blowing over from West Monroe severely limited their potential as a city.

Everyone moving to Tuscaloosa.

This applies to most of Louisiana. Not just Monroe.

There isn't much of anything here. I'm from BR and live up here now and there isn't much keeping me here other than my job.
There are nice looking woman up here though.

He’s alluding to someone insinuating that the “blacks” are to blame.

There are a lot of them up here. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

This is like asking why Plank Road or North Baton Rouge isn't a good place to do business any longer

Aren’t they? Look at most of the south.

Monroe north of Louisville Ave isn’t that bad. Now south of Louisville, especially south of I-20, now that a different story.

Same for NW LA. Seems like the 2009-2012 hype of cyber command and Haynesville Shale has quieted down a considerable amount.

Nobody wants to live there, and it's a place where people who get ran off out of Shreveport and bossier go.

What thread are you spinning off of? I don't see Monroe mentioned in any other thread on the board.
