You ever wait tables? It's an endless parade of whiny customers who complain about everything, no matter how well it's done.
Sure have. I didn't like the whiny customers so I got another job. I have no sympathy for someone who isn't happy with their situation but refuses to do anything about it.

Teachers are up there
Even though I agree that they need to paid more, they do whine a lot. I tend to give them a pass since they have to put up with everybody else's mistakes. They are also held more responsible for raising the kids than the parents are. They pretty much are being held to unrealistic expectations just like waiters are.

maybe teachers whine because EVERY politician who has run for ANY office uses "education" as the main part of their platform yet, they don't ever follow through?
Not a teacher BTW.

You'll get downvotes because a lot of people on here were service staff because they couldn't get a better job.
Not by money, but by caliber.
Self-esteem. AKA They made it all about the money and they're still butthurt they didn't get money so they'll downvote you because that's why they got the job in the service industry.

And the sad part is you gain a lot of skills from that job. I might hate people but I'm very good at dealing with them. It is amazing how many people lack critical thinking and problem solving skills in this regard.

this is especially rare these day. Back when i did service work there were a lot of people who couldn't separate their hate for people from the job they needed to get done.

My vote goes for the takeout people at restaurants. Act like complete bitches when you don't give them a huge tip. I'm sorry, your grabbing of my bag and swiping my credit card doesn't warrant a $10 tip

You learn how to deal with people from any job you get.
I learned how to deal with people from a volunteer job I had at 13 years old.
Make sure to include that on your resume under action words from your service experience.

I still give them a couple bucks. They still provided me service but they won't get a 20% or more.
Yes, but more so than others. You deal with a lot more of the good, bad, and ugly of the general population. If you had two applicants, one retail and one service, and and all else was equal I'd choose the service industry person before retail in a heartbeat.

Once, I had to clean up a child's vomit off the table while the mom just sat there.
You better believe I whined that day. Disgusting.

Crabbers, shrimpers, waiters are all high up there.

I tip the takeout guys well from places that do it right.
I mean if it's a local joint that wraps up a sandwich and throws it in a bag, then no.
But we get take out from several places where each item is put into its own reusable plastic container, they put dressings/oils/whatever into little hard plastic containers, etc. I'll tip for that. Maggianos is what I'm thinking of, but we have other places that do it similarly well.

I also take in account if I'm at a place with a young kid working. I'm all about encouraging them and helping develop work ethic.
