I don't know, but I laugh at people that wear hats everywhere. I always try to figure out what they are hiding....
I mean a couple of my Baws are bald, and they go ahead and just shave it off but then wear a hat most of the time, and I get it. Yoh know they aren't happy that they are bald but they have embraced it like a real man but then still think rocking the hat looks good on them....
But then there is the rest of the 'always defaults to the hat' wearers... They are either hiding that they are balding or they are just ugly dudes and wear a hat to try and cover... Either way there is just too many of the latter group with the lack of confidence..... Baws need to step it up
Eta: you may catch me in a hat possibly 5 hours average a month.

I grew up in a household where I was taught to take your hat off indoors. I also use silverware instead of my hands at the table. Parents taught me to not be an animal.
Seriously though, I dont see the reason for wearing hats all the time, especially indoors. Are you too lazy to comb your hair, is your hair that bad, are you ashamed at your lack of hair?

If someone wants to wear a hat then wear a hat. I'd rather someone be comfortable in a hat then uncomfortable with it off. I don't care if its church, at a bar, Thanksgiving just be who you are and be comfortable.

It mainly applies before the ballcap era. If you wear a ballcap and its due to you being a FAN of such team, wear that bit*h! But yeah, at the table, at church, at work (meetings), and other formal dressing places you should keep it off. But a sports game inside.. game on (and hat on!).

Its no big deal imo. The only time I really look down on it is when people wear them in nice restaurants.

Well some people can't fix their hair, then wear a hat and take it off, and have the same hair they fixed.
But like I said, I buzz cut mine now.. so that's not really an issue. I just like wearing it at this point and don't really give a shite about what others think about it.
I was just curious if anyone knew the history of why it became taboo.

I feel more comfortable wearing mine... I also like boxer briefs more than whitey tighties. I like wearing undershirts instead of letting my chest hair poke out 70's style..

Ive never known the history. Kinda curious myself. Was just something my dad and grandfather taught me in their homes. These few things were just ingrained into my head at an early age

Is there apart of your apparel you feel naked without? A watch, piece of jewelry, etc. that you almost always wear?

My younger brother has really bad anxiety ever since he was 7-8 years old. His hat he wears calms him down. Finally convinced him to come to church with us and he didn't take his hate off and some older gentleman came up to him and told him to take his hat off. Thankfully the preacher came over and politely told them to mind their own. His sermon that day was about accepting everyone and making them comfortable. Always stuck with me after that.

Interesting.. I have some anxiety issues... I wouldn't doubt I'm a bit the same way.. I don't freak out when I go to places or events where I can't wear mine. But I don't feel as comfortable either.
