Friend,

It is nearly the 20th anniversary that I wrote an essay on this very topic. Once you have read The LSUoverUSC Argument, you will have ample time to respond to each of the points here.

Thanks,

The BCS had a championship game to determine THE national champion. USC agreed to this prior to the season.

Simple question, did USC agree to and attempt to qualify for the BCS?

Just like EVERY other year there was a controversy, IF the stupid BCS required a conference championship, then LSU and USC would have settled it on the field.

But, you agree on a system, then you stick with it, so... LSU is the real champion from that year.

My memory's a little fuzzy.
Who did USC play in the NC?

LSU got into the NC game through the system that was designed to establish a national championship matchup because the AP naming the NC every year was just a shite way to do it.

USC didn't get in and felt they should, they win bowl game then decide to go back to the old way and claim themselves champions.

There is no way to know who would have won, but I am pretty sure LSU's defense would have fricked Matt Leinart up.

1. 2003 USC was not the same team as the 2004 USC team.
2. The 2003/2004 season National Championship game was played by LSU & Oklahoma
3. Oklahoma’s offense was as good as USC’s. Oklahoma’s defense was much better.
4. Oklahoma had the Heisman trophy winner (which LSU put in his place).

….. but you ignore all of those facts and claim USC was better my ignorant friend.
