Looking for thoughts on pros and cons to having a third child. I saw the thread about wait time between 1 and 2 and thought I'd ask this.

I know I am stopping at 2

My plan was two.
My wife wanted infinity.
We settled on four.

Have two now and they are 2 years apart - hte perfect age gap. They are starting to play together very well and my son is really starting to be protective of his sister (he is 5 and she is 3).
There are times when I wouldn't mind having another but then my wife not so kindly reminds me about those late nights and all. It seems that I have forgotten all of that stuff.

Unless they're both girls, then you try for the third and hope that god doesn't play a sick trick on you.

Has your wife brought it up at all?

I want to stop with the one I have, but that will be a relationship killer. I figure she's worth the sacrifice, so I'll agree to another.

I've got a 3 and 1 year old. I always said i wanted 3 or 4, but now that i have 2 i don't know if i want more. I do, but I don't.
I know i didn't care that much at the time, but growing up my dad and my grandpa never missed a sporting event in my lifetime, never, and that means the world to me that they were always there for every basketball game, every baseball game, every soccer game, no matter how far away it was. Granted my sister was 4.5 years younger than me, and i was the only male on 1 side of the family and the only male in town on the other, so i was sort of the main attraction for my grandparents, on top of being the oldest grandchild on both sides.
I don't want to get to the point where i'm choosing what child i get to see play that day b/c they are all busy doing something.
I also plan on sending my kids through catholic schools and having 3 of them at Catholic High might be $40-50k a year by then for all of them.

quote:I got a buddy from HS who has 4 girls and a 5th on the way. He almost shot himself in the face when he got the news about the fifth... All of my friends and I joke with him about being the unluckiest man on the planet and when we all heard the news, we asked; "Still gonna try for a boy?" he just said, "frick you, no."

1 kid, I'm done.
Had a neighbor with 4 girls, he just finally said frick it, not going through this again.
Apparently you can pick the sex through IVF now though.
