For any of you raised Catholic, have the sex abuse scandels prompted you to leave the church and look elsewhere? If you left for a different religion, what church did you join and what has your experience been like?

You are just trading one organization with skeletons for another organization with skeletons if you do this.

Religion being a tax free enterprise will keep them being a haven for the underworld of society

ETA: If you want to worship, but also know you arent part of something that has skeletons, read the bible and pray at home with family. I dont think God would care

Not because of the sex abuse scandals, but I left the church and became a Methodist.

Wasn't the sex abuse only. Too many different rules for different people.

Yes. Kids raised Catholic. I am not. On their own (they are both adults), they have become disgusted with the church. My wife has also become disgusted with the church and has considered going to Episcopal services.

I was raised Catholic, I left the church for reasons other than the sex abuse scandal. Personal stuff, not necessarily because of the church.

I do think the way they are handling the scandal to be a travesty, but I also believe the Catholic church is a tremendous force for good in a lot of cases.

eta: I think people can reasonably remain devout Catholics and still condemn the behavior of parts of the church, but denying the scandals, or being part of the cover up make you a scumbag

No. I'm not leaving Christ because of Judas.

The Church (e.g. sacraments, saints, etc.) is a gift from God, but it's still a gift held in a human vessel, full of mankind's weaknesses.

If you are with the Catholic Church because of a Pope or priest you are with it for the wrong reasons.

Why you worried about it, baw? And no, the education my kid can receive is far and away better at those turrible catholic schools.

I was a practicing Catholic as a kid, only because it was required of me and I was made to do it. Once I got in middle school, I never went to church and pretty much gave up on the Catholic church and haven't changed one iota in all that time.

I'm about as much a practicing Catholic as a cow stuck in a tree is a monkey.

The only time I've been inside a church has been for weddings, baptisms and the occasional funeral mass. Other than that, it' s a no-go for me.
