Spinoff of Visiting Graves

Eventually they become forgotten. As cremation becomes more popular, how many generations do the ashes get handed down before no one cares and you end up in an attic?

This thread has my dead relatives spinning off in their graves

As raised staunch Roman Latin Mass Catholic (fallen Angel these days) I was taught you couldn't rise from the dead without your body intact.

I just hope two of my quirky friends put me in a coffee tin and dump my ashes in a heavy wind, so it blows right back at them

In big families...I would just go spread them. In small families, I would go spread them.

My wife's dad and her twin were both cremated. We weren't going to pass the remains to our kids. It was decided to take the ashes up to their favorite place in the mountains and let mother nature take them with the wind.
I don't think they would have had a problem with that, in fact they probably would have approved of the idea.

My aunt got dumped in a river when I was a kid, while I was tubing. I thought it was a little FK'd up.

I can probably think of a lot better places than a river, esp with kids tubing in the same area.

In our family if you want your ashes in the family vault, thery are put there (lota room, historic cemetary, family there since 1800s.)
But most of us want our ashes to be used creatively. My bro in law was cremated and some ashes were blown out of a cannon over water in Alaksa. Some of Mom's ashes are at Fort Pickens, (Viking funeral) some are in handmade glass paperweights that are beautiful.
My family knows that they can cremate me and make me into a rock. We all have our plans
Its nice that we can talk about this as a family and have fun in it. None of us likes funerals or ceremonial crap.

Shouldn't that be *earned?
Is this just a vase you are going through?

Most of my family is cremated, no they’re placed in drawers of a church.

I’d have thought you’d be sensitive to this issue.

Slag, you're on point tonight. Ginger, sounds like you have an awesome family.

I want to be cremated and I don’t want my ashy body passed down for generations.
Just sprinkle me somewhere in the wilds of Africa so I can be near the animals

Wonka put Mike TV back together. What the frick’s God’a problem with a few ashes?
He may have been a little smaller, but that wouldn’t bother you.
